someone will bite. What else is out there? Saku Koivu/Matt Cullen/Patrick Elias, while still effective, are old.

teams looking for a #2 will bid on Bozak, Roy, and Ribiero. And they'll all get around 5M.

as for who is going to do it? Look to winnipeg, where antropov has been disappointing and jokinen is not a legit 2nd liner anymore. Bozak and Little gives them two top-six faceoff studs. Roy and Ribiero, on the other hand, are terrible at faceoffs.

No-one would surely be that stupid to get him at that price?

Mind you, I suppose a low cost team might bite.

can't blame him, we all want to be overpaid. Doubt he'll get that much... Someone should tell him that the salary cap is going down!

Ridiculous.

I've always been one to downplay the high salaries of NHL players - like the Getzlaf contract. I thought that was a fair contract.

But, this?

For real?

Bozak had a career high of 47 points last year, playing on a line with TWO PPG wingers. Even the worst linemeate products produce higher than that. I realize that he can PK and win faceoffs, but Bozak isn't a viable top line center. He's a decent 2nd liner, and a great 3rd liner. His play is carried by his teammates. He fits in well with the Leafs. I think it'd be moronic of him to leave Toronto, as I think his play will suffer greatly.

For next year they have Tavares, Nielsen, Cizikas all signed through. Aucoin and Bailey are up for re-signing. So they maybe they could but depends on who they'd prefer.

Koivu, Ribiero, Roy, Cullen, Antropov, Elias, Cervenka, Wellwood are some other UFA options.

Some decent players, but not a lot of quality top-6 material out there and not really anybody I'd want for a first line. Roy and Ribiero probably will go for a higher price, but I wouldn't be shocked to see a team give Bozak 5.

My money's on Calgary.

It's going to sting but I honestly don't mind if the Leafs pay him 5M and get rid of Grabovski then. Their salaries are then essentially a wash....Grabo is just not getting any ice time under Carlyle.

IMO if you take everything into account:

-Skill
-Faceoffs
-defensive play
-ES/PP/PK player

Bozak is the best center on the market. Weiss is good but he's not an all round player.

This is another way the terrible Grabovski contract hurts the Leafs.

Let's say he gets signed for 5.5m/year

That's $117,021 and change for a point if he can match his career high.

In comparison, Ovechkin, if he can match his prime, 112 points, would be making $85,164 per point. Crosby, if he can match HIS prime of 120 points, would be making $72,500 per point.

Dat Bozak premium.

"Bozak isn't a viable top line centre".... a curious comment.... considering that Bozak is Toronto's top line centre, and Toronto has a relatively comfortable grasp 5th in the east right now.

As for $5m. It's probably right around what he's worth. Remember, a player is only not worth an amount of money if the team hass a better alternative. Even at $5m, Toronto doesn't have a better alternative.

Leino had an incredible playoff performance to go along with his 53 points the season before he signed his contract.
