You're lying if you're telling me you can't see the Flyers pulling Sean Monahan out of their ass.

I fear we're going to reach (If we have a high enough pick) and select Monahan. Gotta love hard working Canadians...

The Flyers stereotype will be so brutally reinforced if we do pick a grindy, Flyers hockey, Canadian center.

Would anyone do 2013 1st + 2014 1st + coburn for #1 overall?

I think I would for a chance to get a defenseman this team has been chasing for a long time. Sign street or hainsey to replace coburn.

I'd rather have Zadorov + whatever defenseman in 2014 + Coburn than Jones.

That's a pretty easy one for me.

And if we buyout Bryz, then we can get Streit or Hainsey anyway.

I don't know what the value is, but that's a huge overpayment to move up that little bit. Also, 1st overall picks are rarely traded.

EDM fan here if it comes down to PHI picking and Monahan and Nurse are available, who do you guys pick. It seems you guys are high on Nurse and on the EDM board we are high on Monahan.

Now we are sitting right around #10 if I can count right lol.

Might have to put Nurse dream away. Maybe the Russian slips all the way down to us, and the Flyers actually like him.

EDIT: #9 right now.

Nurse definitely. There are forwards I would definitely take over him but I don't think one of them would be Monahan.

Welp, we might need to play this Zadorov v. Ristolainen thing out a bit more fully. It seems increasingly likely that that will be the choice.

I doubt that he drops that far but if he does and they don't take him, that would be pretty upsetting.

Yep. Well if this draft is as good as people say, we should still be in good shape.

Isn't Ristolainen a big shut-down guy? Like a lot of the other guys we have on this team (Coby, Schenn, Grossmann)? I'm no expert but he seems like the redundancy?

Ristolainen has some offensive upside--he's more of a two-way player--or at least that's what I've read.

Here is a link that shows where the prospects are, don't look at where the teams are as it is a bit out dated but shows you what the concensus is with where the prospects will go.

I'd be happy having him come in and learn from Kimmo.

One of the best defensemen of his age group, Ristolainen is a top-prospect for the 2013 NHL Draft. He is a calm player with good two-way ability and a mature style of play, though his defensive awareness still needs work. Ristolainen moves the puck with confidence and though he's not a big-time hitter, he plays the body and likes to get physical in front of the net. He also has good mobility. Ristolainen has an excellent frame and has gained a lot of strength while playing in SM-liiga. He is good with the puck and solid defensively, but has also displayed ability to work the powerplay.

Passing on Zadorov for Pulock could be a mistake, but I'm really not entirely confident in either.

I want Nurse.

I will say however that Zadorov is a fantastic defenseman. I don't know if he can control the flow of the game with the puck like we need though. He can control it with his body for sure, but we don't need another Schenn.
Zadorov reminds me of your typical stay-at-home defenseman - big/physical/good wheels/good puck skills/good awareness/etc. He looks great right now because he has all the basic skills that make a pro a pro. He's NHL ready similar to Schenn, Orpik, Staal, Regehr, Jackman, and Volchenkov, (all first round picks.)

Pulock's penalty minute totals have me worried, though. He has a combined 48 penalty minutes through three complete WHL seasons, and two post-seasons. I feel like all the great defensemen come with an edge that's evident in their junior careers. Pietrangelo, Doughty, Keith, Weber, they all want to be the best on the ice; when they're not, they take offense to it. Then you have Bouwmeester who has all the talent in the world with hardly any of the edge.

Nurse has it all. He has awareness, nastiness, good wheels, size, and his offensive game has really turned on. What's even more promising is his situation next season. His head coach, Sheldon Keefe, challenges all his players to work as hard as they physically can. It's paid off with Cousins, a third-round pick. Can you imagine what's going to happen with a full offseason to train, and all the PPTOI he can had with Sproul heading to the Red Wings? Yeah...
