I know there rumors he didn't want go the AHL route as a way of getting to the NHL but i think he was still young enough where you could of talked him down off that stance.
that's not what this article says: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/b...cle16574699.ab

it doesn't mention the flyers specifically (just that he was drafted by them and that they lost right to him) but based on his comments it sounds like he just didn't want to play in the NHL yet. here is a quote, the translation is pretty bad but you get the point.

Quote:
It has for several years been NHL interest for Eriksson, who, however, all of the time opted to pass up and continue to play League hockey.

I'm hoping that's the case.

Eriksson seemed fairly happy with the Flyers' organization, at times even sporting Philadelphia hoodies in the locker room.

I want him signed, badly both from a personal standpoint and someone viewing the Flyers' professional needs.

I always liked Sunshine. Now we have a chance to grab him. Finally.

Little has had hits and misses.
When you're in charge of scouting goaltenders it's going to happen. The position is so unpredictable it's hard to fault him for that.

If we could get Eriksson back I'd be very confident in net moving forward. Between Mason, Stolarz and Eriksson I'd assume one will figure it out.

Still would've been better not to give up on Bob, but whatever.

Appears to be divide among #Flyers' front office on whether to amnesty Bryz. Decision could become more clear if Mason excels down stretch.

A huge stand on your head W against the NYR would be a start.

Mason better be hungry for the puck.

He has looked great to me since he got here. Team definitely doesn't look as deflated when he lets in a goal as they do when Bryz does

9 games in a season that is all but lost. It's great that he's done so well thus far but it's not the same thing as being the #1.

I dont think Mason is the biggest factor in the decision to amnesty Bryz.

Was Eller a factor to buy out Gomez?

Why not, Bryz has obviously shown that he is incapable of being the #1. By him out, what's the worse that could happen? He sucks, well incase anyone hasn't noticed Bryz sucks and is stealing 5.6 million. If Mason suck we are in the same goalie position next year but with 5.6 million more in cap space.

I would love to see the end of Bryz but who will the backup be?

Clearly the Flyers will sign Sunshine and he will fight with Mason for the #1 next year.

yeah its a tough position to scout. I am not saying Little should of been fired over it, just saying I thought it was the wrong decision to go with Hovinen over Eriksson. No word if the Flyers are in the list of teams looking to bring him back. guess we will have to wait on that.

But that may not have been his decision. In the article it said he decided to not play in the NHL and if that's the case it wasn't Neil's decision at all.
