Blues magic numbers:
vs. Columbus – 7 (Blues clinch tiebreaker)
vs. Phoenix – 6 (but a Blues win in regulation Thursday clinches tiebreaker, takes down to 1)
vs. Dallas – 8
vs. Detroit – 10 (though Blues likely own tiebreak)
58 points is automatically in the playoffs, so Blues getting 8 of 12 points against PHX, DAL, COL, COL, CGY, CHI is a lock.
Also, 58 is kind of perfect for avoiding LA in round 1. The Sharks should get at least 6 of 10 points to reach 59.
This is a must-win for Columbus. That's going to be a good game. Columbus has a hellacious schedule to finish it out, but I still think they look more like a playoff team than Detroit does. I'd really like to see what Columbus can do with Chicago in the first round. I'm pretty sure I know what I'd get with Detroit, and its not a very big threat to the Blackhawks. But Columbus would make them have to earn it, and with no pressure on them maybe they could pull off an upset. A lot depends on Bobrovsky.
Alright, now I am rooting for the Jackets to make it.
I'd like to face Vancouver in round 1, especially after last night.
This is looking far ahead but if we were to upset them and face Chicago in round 2, I think Columbus would do a better job of wearing them down a bit physically than Detroit or Dallas would. Plus Bobrovsky could maybe keep it interesting although Chicago would win. But would be a decent series to watch.
And I'll echo the lol @ Detroit comments. That team just doesn't have it anymore.
Good to hear the Jackets win though. If they make it in, I don't know if they'll beat the Hawks or Ducks in a series, but they might rustle a few jimmies along the way (BlueDream called it when he talked about physically wearing teams down).
