Vets they can move at the deadline, similar to Jagr in Dallas, and younger guys they think will be part of the long term solution. They'll be looking for another Glencross type.

Detroit should be in for some different type of players heading east next season & Nyquist,Tatar,Anderson look overwhelmed. They look to me to be nothing more that flashy Ahlers, who's 1 or 2 tricks won't work in the big league!
Time will tell, but their time is not now if you want to get anything out of Pav and Z's last couple of productive years!

Glencross type = David Clarkson?

And can we trade Iggy again at the 2014 trade deadline?

haha a series of one year deals and deadline trades invovling Iggy would be amazing. He'd have done more for any organization than any player in history.

Doubt we're out there for FA's, unless there are a bunch of big names. But we will def be out there for trade because of the teams cap situations.

I expect the Jets to be very active this offseason, but not necessarily in free agency. Hopefully they use their cap space to swing some trades.

Edmonton... most of our bottom six will be going ufa... Petrell, Jones, Hordi, Eager, ...(ryan smyth when he gets bought out). Then fistric, and whitney on D. We have tons of capspace and a new GM this will be a fun summer. Also expect to see nuge locked up long term.

I don't expect many teams to be active, especially considering what will be available...

As a NYR fan I'd like to see them retain Clowe and sign Clarkson if the price is right

I agree with trades. I can see Columbus trying to add pieces via trades at the draft. As for signing UFA's, I expect a backup goalie. If trades fail at the draft, maybe go after a guy like Filppula. I wonder if there are any UFA's from the Finnish Elite League that Jarmo liked.

Agree. Couple that with a new GM eager to prove himself and I think they have the chance to really better themselves! They have plenty of cap space to add some serious upgrades in net and on defense.

Calgary is rebuilding but they need some veterans on the team to help complement the younger players. We do not want to end up the Oilers where you do not have a leader that younger players can look upto and learn from.

I see ottawa making some noise, we have a lot of cap space and veterans outgoing such as gonchar and maybe alfredsson, I also believe were not far off from being a contender

Calgary is a cap ceiling team sitting on 2x million in cap space next season. You can bet they will be turning over every rock to find parts, and overpaying when necessary (hopefully not to long-term deals). Depending on what they draft, I can see them going hard for some quality 3/4 or 5/6 d-men since they have no depth or talent there outside of Brodie/Gio/Wideman/Wotherspoon. They will also need to get bigger, a 1st/2nd line forward with size is arguably their biggest need outside of a franchise #1 center.

Question is... who are those complementary pieces? And do they wont to come join the Oilers.

The market out there is thin. And the Oilers have never been able to land the hotly pursued players. I'm sure the Oilers will try REALLY REALLY hard. And come up short. And make excuses.

In the future, If they have good competitive team they will be able to get some UFAs, I think.
