Latendresse isn't better than Michalek, not by a long shot

I just love his ability to hold on to the puck and I have considerably soured on Michalek

Michalek is the exact player we have been looking for. He is really strong on the puck, will rush at the net, and he will instantly make our powerplay better.

To bad he can't move much once he has it. He's pretty good on the boards, but every move without the puck is to compensate for no quickness and not much speed once up and moving.

He has a role, not in the top 6. He would be great on a grinder line with his good shot - he would likely produce more.

He does that from behind the net for sure. I'm thinking of times when he's passed to at the red-line. More often than not he's looking to dish it off to Turris or Alfie to carry it in.

and that makes sense since alfie and turris are good at carrying the puck into the zone. they do it on the pp all the time.

Was kidding... I dont think many people have a problem with Michalek's play when he is "on"... Its just his inability to stay healthy... And lack of playoff production that people hate on...

Hope his knee issue is cleared up for the year!!

Kind of a Havlat-lite in the sense that we love him when he's healthy, but he hasn't been quite often enough. But hey, he's back, and not over-the-hill just yet.

Bumping this...

Any people still doubting Michalek or not recognizing how awesome he can be?

Sure, he has only been 80% healthy with the Sens, but I'd take 80% over 0% and a combination of Condra/Hoffman/whoever on the wing to replace him...

Milan Michalek will visit a specialist in Germany to sort out next option for his chronic knee problem.

He is done ..every year is another surgery try to get a 2nd for him or package him with are 1st to move up a spot or 2

If this year taught us anything is that we have depth

LW ..Prince Puempel Conacher Filatov
RW Silfverberg Stone Noesen

Just let the kids plan gain experience

I agree we have depth but the LW has far too many question marks to get rid of a proven goal scorer, although frustrating as heck. Prince I would love to see, Puempel most likely needs time in the AHL and is Filatov actually an option? I consider him as good as gone because it doesn't seem like he is willing to put in the work/time to reach his potential in the NHL.

I can understand wanting to move him, but trading to move up a spot or two, or a 2nd round pick is incredibly stupid.

If his value is that low, keep him.

Quit with the common sense... He is the perfect winger for Spezza, he is a different player when Spezz is in the lineup he showed it. He is also very hard to play against big body kills penalties strong on the puck. This team is also very young you need a mix of veterans and youngsters. I just hope Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek, Wiercioch all get a good summer of healing and training in. Next year they make a push.

Filatov... REALLY PEOPLE hahaha

Exactly.

Moving him to move up a few spots is moronic asset management.

Michalek is also only 2 years older than Condra and Greening.

Everyone seems to consider him a "veteran" just because he happens to be so much more accomplished in the NHL.

He scored 79 goals for the Sens in a little bit more than 3 seasons. I think that's the most by an Ottawa Senators player since 2009-10

But he missed some games!

....Computing... Processing...

Conclusion : Yeah, get rid of him.

Feels great to be a genius!

Well why not? Just look at how many legit top 6 wingers we've acquired since Heatley. It's easy. Replace him with them.. oh wait no one. Not so easy.

If someone asks for Michalek to be traded, then at least suggest a theoretical trade.

Classic.

"We need a legit top winger for Spezza."

"Trade our 35 goal scorer for a 2nd."
