I don't know... I think just because a team has depth at a certain position, it doesn't preclude them from adding even more depth. A centre like Monahan can be broken in on the wing as well...nothing saying he'd have to be used at centre from the start.

On paper it does look like the Flyers would possibly gravitate towards picking a dman but you can't discount anything because they could then also trade other assets to fill holes if they had an abundance of centres on the roster.

I'm always one that says BPA, but unless Drouin falls to the Oilers at 6, 7 or 8, they need to take a defenseman or center.

No.

I would trade the draftpicks for someone like Ryan McDonagh.

Knowing the Flyers they will continue to blow things up but somehow make it into the playoffs. Holgrem is away a unpredictable.

I really hope we don't trade our 1st if we are still drafting top 8.

Funnily enough the climb up to 8th was faster for the Oilers than their current journey to the basement. It seems there are a lot of teams competing in tank mode this year.

6 straight losses and the Oilers are still sitting with no better than the 7th pick (8th if a team from 8th-14th wins the lotto).

1 win the rest of the way probably makes them a bottom 3 team. 2 wins and they likely finish with ~6th/7th pick... right about where they are now.

Why would the rangers move him?

I'm hoping we get Drouin. I would hate to see him in Flames uni.

I dont know, but that is exactly what Oilers need. A player like that will add more consistency, experience, quality and depth, which is what oilers need. The last thing the oilers want is more kids. Therefore I say, trade them.

If he was available we would be stupid not to. I just don't see it happening. We need to look at more realistic trade options.

If the Oilers trade their 1st it would likely be a package deal... something like Gagner+1st or MPS+1st or even something like Gagner+Klefbom+1st... to get them a major piece (or pieces).

Throw enough into a deal and some team in the market to deal would likely step up and play ball with the Oilers.

You've got to think some teams that miss the playoffs this season will be looking to shake things up at the draft.

Buffalo, Nashville, Colorado, Tampa, Carolina, New Jersey, Philadelphia... all teams I could see making "bold moves" in unison with MacT.

If that is the case, please lose, lose, lose. I have seen MacKinnon five times this year and he is unreal. What a line, Hall, Yaks, and MacKinnon.

Exactly, that is what I say about Horvat. He is a complete player. Here is my thoughts on draft.
1) Take our 1st pick along with Hemsky and Gagner and trade for a top 4 Dman and a power forward.
2) Sign Clarkson as UFA
3) We have (2) 2nd round picks. Take those picks along with a prospect and get a 1st round pick in the 20-30 range. This will get you Bo Horvat.
4) Hopefully one of Klefbom, Marincin, or Fedun can make the jump

With Kesey, Horvat, Brown, Hartikainen, Petrell, Moroz, and a few others, sure we can make a 3rd and 4th line.

Based on the latest rankings from ISS, at our current draft position (7th), they have both Lindholm and Monahan still on the board. If that's the case, I'd take Lindholm, but I don't see him falling that far at all.

I can definitely see Nichushkin dropping (ISS has him at 2). The only team I could see potentially taking him ahead of us is Tampa Bay. Yzerman is kind of a wildcard on draft day, and I never have a clue as to what he's going to do. He's definitely not afraid to draft Russians or players who might be considered more of a risk.

Line 3 PRV, Lander, Hartikainen
Line 4 take your pick of players above

The Oilers may never win another faceoff again.

Flames will get a very, very good prospect no matter what. They picked a great year to start their "non-rebuild" rebuild.

Drouin/Baertschi would still be about the extent of their elite prospects depending on what they get with their other 2 1st rounders.

I don't think we can worry much about what they get though when the Oilers have so many needs of their own. If the Oilers pick in the top 7 they'll get an elite prospect as well. Monahan/Nurse would be a hell of a pickup and would give the Oilers prospect cupboard a lot more depth than the Flames.

Any soilid deffender in the age of 24-27 is better then new kids. Oilers fans cant even be patient witth the curent "superstars".

I'm no expert on Philly but defence and goaltending are by far their biggest concerns.

They need a decent PMD (who doesn't), given that the loss of Pronger and Carle crippled their transition game.

I still think Philly takes Nurse imo. He fits what that team is trying to do quite well.

For a PMD, I think they'll sign a guy like Ian White for the time being.

I don't have them listed in the order which position they will play. What are your thoughts? Get more finesse players like Hemsky? That plan ain't working. Trust me, we need to get big. The west is full of big players
