Boucher suggested he trim it and was subsequently fired.

He shaved 17 minutes before that picture. That doesn't look like Gudas though.

I googled his name and the caption said "Radko Gudas now a NHL player". I agree it doesn't look like him though.

I'm sure Cooper won't mind his beard if he didn't mind it in the AHL. Also, I was surprised when Boucher asked Gudas to trim his beard. Does he really have any authority to do that? It's not like his beard interfered with his play.

The Yankees require all of their players be clean-shaved.

But I don't really care. The beard is badass. It's also Gudas.

Within the sport, the Devils are the prime example of a team influencing their players.

Lou made Pat Burns shave off his mustache to coach the team. They are allowed facial hair during the playoffs however.

NJ also has a no-long hair rule. If you want to have long hair, then go play for San Francisco, hippy.

The Rangers require their players to have extra padding in their gloves, intended to help protect them when they block shots.

Gudas did it on his own. Boucher, or anyone for that matter could never ask Gudas to do such a thing.

The origin of 'Guy made Gudas trim his beard' seem to originate from Gord Miller calling Gudas' second game a while back and saying it. Miller added that the beard had grown back by the point of the game where he noted it.

Was he serious? Who really cares that much?

I thought his beard was awesome when he first came up, but I agree it looks a little better cleaned up.

I've really liked what I've seen from him on the ice this year too, beard or no beard.

He looked awful last night, worst game I've seen from him. I'm a little worried about his foot speed, if he was bigger he could get away with it cause of reach. I don't think he can be s top 4, good bottom pair only.

it is his first season in the NHL, one game and all of a sudden he can't be a top 4 d-man?
Overreaction too much?

He's played more than one game so I've seen what he can do. He seems a little to nonchalant with the puck at times. Not sure he has the offensive upside to be a top 4, most 3rd pairings are defensive specialists which he is. I am not completely writing him off I just hope he can make a big jump this off season.

I think, last season was it even better. Btw. in Czech Republik or in Slovakia people call
him "Rumcajs".

The story begins here

Here he is in the Buffalo game on Sunday, still quite bearded. However, I'm sure it was completely shaven off during after pre-game skate, and that was the result.

I think the trimming of Gudas' beard was the most disappointing thing about this season. Yes, I said it.
