There is a funny article about Chris Pronger, I don't know if it was posted before.

Anyway, have fun!

An article that may be of interest...

Quote:
There was a familiar face at the Air Canada Centre on Thursday with the Philadelphia Flyers in town, albeit one wearing glasses and a suit and sporting a thick playoff-like beard.

Future Hall of Famer Chris Pronger had made a rare trip with the team to watch them take on the Toronto Maple Leafs and conduct some off-ice business in the city, giving the hockey world a rare glimpse at his progress and recovery.

Pronger remains out indefinitely with concussion symptoms, and at age 38 and with four years remaining on his contract, it’s widely expected he’ll never play in the league again.

But he has found a role with the Flyers as a mentor, taking Luke Schenn in particular under his wing and showing him some of the things he learned over an impressive 1,167-game career.

It appears to be paying off.

Schenn had perhaps his best game yet as a Flyer this week against his former team, logging nearly 26 minutes in a 5-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs as the anchor to a beaten up Philadelphia defence.

i realize pronger can't officially have a job with the organization right now cause of his injury status but they need to have him continue to tutor schenn. he could do (or maybe has done) wonders for schenn. can't really say that schenn's turnaround from last season to this season is a direct result of pronger as there are other factors to consider (weight loss, new system, being paired with kimmo for the majority of the season) but i'm sure it has helped him in some capacity.

and Toronto

If there's a former defenseman you want working with your current group, Pronger is definitely one of them

No there isn't. He's just really friggen big.

I want Kimmo and Chris brought in full-time when all's said and done. Let Desjardins and Hatcher work with our prospects. And when those guys make it to the bigs, let Timonen and Pronger do their thing.

That does seem perfect, 4 of the best Dmen of the last 20 years working with our youngsters.

I've never been diagnosed with a concussion, but have always suffered from headaches and, for awhile, motion sickness. The mention that Pronger is flying with the team (or flying at all) I think is a huge step forward. That said, I still doubt he'll ever play again, and kinda hope he doesn't for the sake of his family.

My Dad got me a Leclair, Lindros and Coffey bobbleheads when i first started supporting them. First ever flyers memorabilia!

Anyone listening to the WPG feed? One of their announcers just mentioned running into Pronger this week and Pronger commenting about how much better he felt. No longer getting dizzy. Announcer commented that his belief was that Pronger still would like to come back, but isn't close yet, obviously.

I'd want more proof before getting my hopes up of anything.

5mil for leadership and toughness that will never go away until he retires? Take as long as you need, Chris. If you never come back, we'll manage...if you do, well, we love you anyways
Well said sir

If Schenn wasn't wearing a visor he might have become the next Pronger today.

At this point, I just want him to be able to live a normal life.

From an article in this weeks Sports Illustrated:

Quote:
"I stuck some guys with a good one", says Pronger. I'm guessing a few guys around the league heard about my injuries and started thinking, Ah, sweet karma....I didn't play the game to make friends; I played the game to win. If what happened to me is a by-product of that, I accept it. I'd be a hypocrite to ask for sympathy now."
Gotta love the guy. Sorry, I don't have a link for the article, but this quote made me smile.

Just watched the video from that article. I will post it in a second. He still isn't ruling out playing again. He is a warrior, but we shouldn't see him on the ice again.

Damn, I would have loved to see him play more.

I'm just not sure it's likely, or even possible. Is he even training?

No training. He only has skated a few times on the ice with his kids hockey teams. He still get symptomatic when out there though. Long long road back if he really wants to play again.
