Jason Demers to Edmonton?

What would Edmonton have to ship San Jose for Jason Demers?

It'd be a tough sell to me. I don't think Demers' value is too high right now based on how they've used him the last couple seasons but it's obvious he has massive potential as a PMD. The Sharks would probably want a similarly-aged winger with a similar level of potential.

Because we have 4 d-man we should be carrying over to next year, and Demers is different than all of them. He'd be a much better 3rd pair option than Correy Potter or Ryan Whitney right now. It would essentially mean that if we can manage to find a top pair guy, our defense is set. Plus, he shouldn't be overly expensive to get I wouldn't think.

He's not worth what I'd need for him. He's very jekyll and hyde right now. He'll be our best defenseman for a couple games, then he'll have a brutal one. He's just not someone we can part with when you consider no one knows where Burns will stay long term (at forward or D).

What would need to happen to get a package going revolving around gagne-demers?

From an asset management standpoint, I think it makes more sense for San Jose to hold on to Demers.

Please explain to me how we are Jason demers and a top 1-2 dman away from being set?

Petrecki, braun, irwin, demers are all looking like they have decent potential, and we have nothing down the pipeline what so ever when it comes to forwards other than hertl, and that is still an unknown.

Demers wouldn't be the first younger d man i'd want to ship out, but for a guy like gagne that is appearing to be developing into a consistent 60 point guy, i think that its worth the loss of demers. Havlat is a disaster, remove burns from forward, we are left with three serviceable guys up front, with two of them enting the end of their careers. We need to get some young forwards going here.

O boy, not that I think you are out of line here at all, but even mentioning gagne in a proposal thread and not getting a kings ransom back will not bode well for you. Edm could Definetly use demers but don't be surprised if many oil fans request Marleau as well. Sam isn't quite in the fab5 but he's close.

Demers + Pavelski + 2nd for Eberle?

or

Sign and trade deals for Demers + extended Pavelski for Eberle?

I would say no, the sharks need to be getting more for pavelski and become less top heavy if they are to trade him imo.

I wouldn't do that. I think Demers' skill-set is more valuable than a 3rd liner and a late 2nd.

MPS turned 22 five days ago. He has a lot more upside than simply a 3rd liner.

Demers is almost 25.

MPS could still end up on the top line of a good team. He could be an incredible second liner. He could be a bad third liner.

His potential is sky high. His speed is an incredible asset. I definitely don't see calling Paajarvi a third liner as fair to him.

Demers isn't much older and has a lot of upside as well. It's not an insult, but right now MPS is a third liner and Demers is a top-4 dman. Doesn't really help us.

Yea, I wasn't commenting on the trade. Just saying that suggesting MPS will top out as a 3rd liner is extremely premature

Maybe it's my natural anti-SJ bias (it is hard to fight), but I would not do MPS for Demers straight up. And I definitely, unequivocally do not trade Eberle for Pavelski+Demers+2nd.

I never said he'd top out as a 3rd liner, but he's a 3rd liner right now. Everything you said about MPS could be said about Demers. I feel Demers' skill-set is more valuable to the Sharks.

MPS potential>Demers potential.

He sure doesnt have alot of points for being a PMD. How is he defensively?
