again, classic sabres/bills move, winning meaningless games to hurt the rebuild that is really needed
I for one thought Weber and Ruhwedel played well.I liked Kaleta's physicality as well. Jeez.

Parts of the run of play weren't great, but that hardly mattered tonight.

Oh, and all you Vanek haters can eat a...you know.

Ference said the idea for salute after the game was Thomas Vanek's idea. He told Sabres trainer, relayed it to #Bruins and they were for it.

Ott said that Vanek and Chara orchestrated the stick salute.

Nice job on Van's part.

I am extremely impressed by the 2 rookie defensemen Pysyk and Ruh. Our defense has been much better since we let Regehr and Leopold go and when these 2 were inserted they have played like veterans. Pysyk for sure deserves to stay in Buffalo next year and think Ruh is making a case for himself as well.

I agree with your assessment. Pysyk is cool headed and makes the smart play and seems to learn every day. Ruh also is calm and makes better plays much more often than not as well; I like them. They do it right.

Great game. Put it on the short list of genuinely entertaining Sabres games this year.

Kaleta was relentless in his hitting tonight. I keep liking Pysyk more and more...this guy has a real future.

And yet 2 more points.

Saw the Rangers game last night; they look horrible and like a team that doesn't want to make the playoffs.

Let's keep it going. A meaningfully high draft pick is long gone now anyway...

I understand the frustration of some with this team. I don't understand the anger....

Overall, Miller wins this game for us. Gotta give Porter an A for effort and spunk. Checking (try to check) Chara in the 3rd...a little more talent and he'd have had a couple of goals.

Vanek is not 100% and still manages to get a goal and assist and essentially provides the needed offense. And some don't want him resigned??

Ott's intensity is always appreciated. So is Kaleta's.

I love Scott but his skill limitations were on display tonight. I think he affected his line's play tonight

Not sure what is the point of Foligno, Gerbe and Flynn. Gerbe was fairly invisible and I was surprised he was selected for the SO.

Hodgson's play is a bit driftless right now.

Really glad for Stafford's score in the SO. Wish he would be more effective and successful along the boards and on the forecheck. But if he starts scoring, most all will be forgiven.

We had trouble picking up the 3rd man in the slot and that led to at least one score and a couple of near misses. Some missed D assignments too... esp. on goal #1.

Ice was bad.

Atmosphere was electric. Anthem sing along reminded me of 9/11 response. Wish it didn't take a disaster or tragedy for us all to come together and honor our Nation.

God Bless the people of Boston and Massachusetts. And grace upon all of those who have been hurt in this tragedy.

They only need one of those and Winnipeg to drop 5 points in 5 games (with one against them)

I will say this. If Florida and Carolina both manage to win tomorrow in regulation and we beat the Pens on Friday, I will officially be on board for this run.

Lets do it.

Really awesome to see Vanek step up like that.

If Vanek gets an extension in the summer, the C is probably his.

If they win out I think they make it. This team doesn't have it in them to do that though.

....and if I matched all 6 numbers, I'd have $600 mil.

(And then I'd take $500 mil of it, buy the Leafs and move them to New Mexico, just to be a dick)

Tonight was bowling night, and I was off having a great night.

Looks like I missed out on a good one, in all aspects. Hopefully, this brought a bit of normalcy back to Boston.

We play the Rangers on Friday, not the Pens. We play them on Saturday.

Makes all the difference in the world when you're not turning it over like Leopold and Myers would. Not to mention, Pysyk's first pass is really accurate.

a more realistic approach.....

Buffalo wins their next 3...(PIT, NYR, WPG)...NYR and WPG must be in regulation.

and 3 of the follow 4 need to happen....(If Buffalo comes away with 1 or 0 pts against PIT then these pts need to adjust by the pts lost by Buffalo)

(1) NYI only get 2 pts in their next 4 games (all on the road)

(2) NYR get only get a max of 4 points in their other 4 games.

(3) WPG gets a max of 5 pts in their other 4 games (they finish season on next Thu)

(4) NJ does not get 10 pts in their next 5 games. Depending on games NJ could have the edge on tiebreakers currently both have 13 RO W)

If all of these happen the standings would be

NYI 51 pts NYI at BUF
NYR 50 pts NJ at NYR
BUF 50 pts
NJ 50 pts
WPG 50 or 51 but no games left
NJ goes 5-0 in their gmae (though they dont have to)

effectively the last games of the season become games where the winner takes the playoff spot--the loser is eliminated.
