It's not like the Hawks got a huge discount here. He's not overpaid, just may be difficult to manage with the cap going forward. If the CBA stayed the same it would be a non issue.
Never said he got them a huge discount. Just said that he really isn't overpaid.
and what has Goc to do with this? A 4th line Center making less than 2 million that would fit in with our team. For 2+ million it's a big no thank you... much like Brouwer was. Bowman agrees to this and also thinks he wasn't worth 2+
Sharp is a very good player on a contract that is movable.
It's really a question of cap management. On our team, it is possible that Sharp's contract might be one that we have to move to ensure we have the depth to be an elite contender.
It likely depends on how guys like Morin, McNeil, Danaut, Hayes etc. perform over the next year or so. If they can cheap bottom 6 guys, we may well continue to fit Sharp's contract into the mix, much like the emergence of Saad and Shaw have helped immensely in that area.
If the Hawks needed to move one of the core players Sharp would certainly be it. But I just don't think they will have to move a core player. The Hawks won't move nor should they move Sharp to sign Bickell, Stalberg or other 3rd line players. The prospect pool should replace them.
Saad is the only player right now that appears will need a large raise when his contract expires. But that doesn't happen for another 2 seasons and there are no secondary players signed past Saad's contract.
Since the cap cannot decrease from 64.3 million and will likely continue to increase, I just don't see why the Hawks would have to deal Sharp.
Cute, Huet didn't play a game in those playoffs and Brouwer played every game they had the same to do with the Hawks winning.
He isn't playing with Kane and Toews now but he is producing at a higher level then ever, weird?
Leaching of Toews or Kane, remember hearing that about Stalberg, and Bickell and Frolik too. We better get rid of that pile of crap Saad quickly before everyone realizes that it's the same with him.
The difference is stalberg and bickell(not like he was there much) got moved off the top line and still keep producing, brouwer got moved off the top line and went like 25 games without a goal and only had like 3 assists in that stretch.
He's playing pretty well in washington this season next to ribeiro(lately) and also has played well on PP(7g, 8a).
