I'm OK with that. The emergence of Irwin, Braun and Tennyson does make Demers somewhat expendable, even though I think Demers will be better than the other 3.

Demers hasn't been getting the points because he was healthy-scratched over the likes of Douglas Murray. No one knows why.

Demers is sound defensively but he's not going to be a defensive stalwart like Vlasic. He's much better in the D-zone than Braun, Irwin and Tennyson and is a better skater than those 3.

Demers' game is very similar to Nick Leddy's.

If you are just looking at points and don't even know what he's like defensively, how do you know his potential?
Not to mention I wasn't even talking about potential. I'm talking about his skill-set. The Sharks will need his fast puck movement, physicality, and offensive creativity for the future. Especially if they trade Boyle this off-season.

Demers is a TWD, not a PMD. And while I really like Paajarvi, I just don't think we can trade Jason. He's got tons of potential. He often looks like our best defenseman, what with Boyle playing so ****tily lately.

Couture-Eberle duo would be lethal

Magnus Paajarvi is a top six winger today. He would easily become the Sharks fastest skater. I decline trading Paajarvi for Demers.

Not likely on the fastest skater bit...and certainly not in-game.

Yahhhh.... just for the record whoever posted that is the only Oil fan that values Gags that highly. He is a good young player and took a step forward this year. I would not trade him for chump change but he is not close to the fab 5.

Uh, there's this Patrick Marleau guy who's faster than Paajarvi easily. Brent Burns probably too.

From your stand point then what would you like to see from the sharks roster in exchange for him? assuming that this starts by san jose sending d-men back your way.

Untouchables for realistic sake.

EDM-Hall, Ebs, RNH, Yak, Shultz.
SJ-Thornton(NMC), Marleau(NMC), Boyle(NMC), Burns(NTC), Couture.

Gagne <-> Demers + ???

If we are trading Demers+, it will be for a natural, goal-scoring top 6 winger. We have plenty of centers on this team already.

shift couture to play the wing? I'm just thinking of a top 6 looking like,

Marleau-Thornton-Pavelski
Couture-Gagne-Havlat

Assuming burns falls back to playing d

I'd almost rather switch Marleau and Couture - it could better cover for defensive lapses by Gagne and still provide a good shot for Thornton's passes.

Run:

Couture - Thornton - Pavs
Marleau - Gagne - Havlat

That's a decently speedy second line - would be nice.

New D-man - J. Schultz
Smid - Petry
Demers - Klefbom/Fistric

Allows us to walk away from Whitney, keep guys like Marincin and Musil developing in the AHL and gives us three balanced pairs.

You're better off looking at what their top 9 is going to be because that's what the team needs...three lines of players that can reliably provide something to the team. With that kind of setup, you're looking at Galiardi-Sheppard-Wingels and that's not going to provide much of anything as they are all limited players and don't compliment each other very well. If the Sharks don't have a competent third line, they can't load up their top six. That's why Pavs is centering the third line right now and it's why it is producing.

It would be truly sick, for years to come. Would be an awesome core, with Vlasic and Burns, to build upon. Adding a re-signed Pavelski and Demers to the oil core would, IMO, add more to their team than losing Eberle subtracts. I think it would be a win-win, but it would be painful for both fan bases (fan favorites going both ways, one young super star for a star center + a young top 4 D)
