that team needs a top 6 center and a hjalmarsson type/caliber dman before they are REAL contenders

Buffalo with the very definition of stealing 2 points.

Detroit is down by two with about six minutes to go to Calgary.

Columbus will enter the third at Anaheim tied. These are massive points for them due to their schedule not being easy.

The Hawks also clinch the first seed in the West with an Anaheim regulation loss to the Jackets tonight.

Any Anaheim loss (OT or regulation) clinches the #1 seed in the West for the Hawks

Ah, I guess if they lost in OT, their max ROW could be 26 (we're at 27).

My stream took a ****, and I missed the OT winner. I only had one for OT, so at least I didn't waste hours watching the game to miss the best part.

#1 seed in the west....nice. I hope they let Sharp and whomever else needs it heal up before the playoffs.

BE-U-TI-FUL! hawks won the conference with the OT loss of Anaheim at the hands of columbus. i secretly really want to face columbus in first round just because i want them to get some time in playoffs, they deserve that.

nice sentiment until bobrovsky stands on his head and we get sent home after the first round.

no one should get arrogant if #lumbus ends up being our first round matchup.

no one should be arrogant ever when it comes to this... if it's the jackets or Stars or Wild.

I like our chances against the Jackets.

Bobs great this year and if we play em it'll be tough but I mean seriously even if it takes 7 games and OT we HAVE to win this series otherwise we are of the NHL.

it's foolhardy to treat CBJ as a joke. honestly, i like our chances against dallas and minnesota more than CBJ.

bobrovsky can't be ignored; they've got gaborik, too...who, when he feels like showing up, is one of the best wings in the nhl.

standings aside, columbus is a worrisome team.

st. louis always worries me - simply b/c backes is a way less talented and more thug-ish version of thornton ... and i'm worried about him making it his main objective to repeatedly punch toews in the head.

Im not overlooking columbus, almost every game with them this year have been close. That being said i do feel confident going into a series with them. I'm just looking at it from the Columbus's fan perspective. i want them to succeed as an organization and wish em well in the eastern conference next year. anyways its time for Detroit to being on the outside looking in for once.

don't get me wrong, i do too - but i'm probably suffering from hangover re the yotes series from last year. i guess the nightmare scenario i keep worrying about is our goalies suddenly letting in softies and prominent members of our top 6 forgetting to show up offensively.

i realize this year isn't last year... but still.

going back to columbus - they have a goalie who, i think, can steal a series. i don't have the same concern re dallas or detroit. ..but 'famous last words' as they say.

I never said CBJ was a joke I'm just stating we should beat them and beat them good. I don't want to be so afraid to make statements about who we should beat for fear of us losing and looking arrogant, confidence isn't necessarily cockiness.

I'm confident enough in this team that I go as far as saying there is no team in the west that will beat us in a 7 game series
