If Rosehill can do more in his appearances than The Shelley Special...you know, skating to the red line and dumping it in, before losing a fight...then I will be pleased.

I get that everyone is getting on the Rosehill train...im not quite there just yet, I don't mind the signing namely because I gotta assume at some point he's gonna get waived or sit a ton of games if we stay healthy next year.

Yeah I really don't think anyone is happy with the signing because they are expecting big things from him. He'll be at best a 4th liner getting 8 minutes or so a night, most likely not on a regular basis. People (at least myself) are more thinking that at sub $700k for a pretty solid enforcer type player, it is a good deal.

would love to see a fourth line of talbot-Hall-Rinaldo next season. Rosehill the 13th forward

I don't get why they had to give Rosehill a two year contract. Just waste of a roster spot. He plays 5 minutes a game when he is not a healthy scratch right now and will probably lose his spot next year to a player like McGinn full time.
McGinn is not a fourth liner or a fighter.

I'm fine with a two year deal for Rosehill if it lowered his AAV.

I think we will see 4th line of Talbot-Laughton-Rinaldo to begin next year. They will try to ease him in like they did with Couts. 8-10 minutes for the first couple of weeks and then fill in the higher roles when injuries. He is ready for the NHL, just needs grooming in a lesser role. Do not want to throw him right into the top 9 mix, especially as a winger.

If Couts does get traded though, then I see him playing the 3rd line center position.

That's what I am thinking it shapes up to be. Something like...

Hartnell-G-Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-Read
Gagne/UFA-Couturier-McGinn/UFA
Talbot-Hall/Laughton-Rinaldo
Rosehill

Im just hoping to see the headline "Flyers re-sign Adam Hall". Seriously, the guy is clutch on the pk and wins faceoffs. I do question why the past few games Lavy has Feds in the middle instead of Hall though.

Rusty: 62 of 168 : 36.9%
Hall: 126 of 231 : 54.5%

Lavy is in on the tank, it just isn't working!

I like Hall too. I think Homer might have to wait a little bit more to sign him, as a decision on Gagne is probably next.

I don't know the tagging room situation, but at some point expect Homer to say 'we have agreements to sign Gagne and Hall as soon as we can buy out Briere.'

Yeah I gotta believe that is coming. I hope Gagne signs for a good deal. I could see him signing anywhere from $2 million to what he has now. Adam Hall I see getting up a little closer to the $1 million mark. Maybe $800k-$1 mil.

Maybe i am in the minority - while Gagne isn't horrible, I do not think he is that good either.

Offensively he hasn't done anything, but his defensive play is still good. Depends on what they think the teams needs when Briere is bought out.

Agree...his added value is minimal. Flyers are doing him a favor with marginal returns.

"I'm starting to enjoy the game again, that's been the main issue," Gagne said in a candid interview in Montreal. "The last 2 years have been a little bit tough. Health was an issue. Not playing as much as I wanted was an issue. I'm back to being healthy again. I'm starting to feel good on the ice.

"Even when we're losing right now, I'm having fun coming to the rink. That's something that, to start the season, I lost a little bit. All that helped me get a good feeling again about the game."

Coach Peter Laviolette complimented Gagne on Monday, saying he has been one of the few players to consistently get in on the forecheck in an attempt to generate offense. It finally has paid off - as the Flyers have scored 11 goals in their last two games.
Quote:
"This is a place, I always say, that's maybe the best place for me to play," Gagne said. "Is that because it's the only place I've really played? I don't know. Philly is one of the places that I have good memories, good friends, and my family is comfortable there.

"It would be an easy choice if 'Homer' would come to me and ask me to stay. We'll see. I'm not sure if they're going to want to make a lot of changes, or what they are thinking. It's tough to look at our team, tough to judge why we play so poorly sometimes. We don't have a full lineup, it's a shortened season."

For veterans accustomed to high salaries, money can be a sticking point, especially with a salary cap dropping nearly 9 percent this summer. Gagne vows money will not be an issue, saying he's willing to accept less than the $3.5 million he's making this year. Perhaps, somewhere in the $2 or $2.5 million range would work for all.

"I'm at the point of my career where I made really good money for a while," Gagne said. "As a player, your goal is to win the Stanley Cup. I did that [with the Kings last season]. I still want to win the Stanley Cup. At the end of the day, money is just a small question. Being happy is important. If I like the place, I'll make things work - for everyone to be happy, to make sure that it doesn't hurt the team."
Well Gags wants to come back. And at a lower price to make it work.

Also he has 6 points in the last 8 games, I wouldn't say that is nothing offensively. He still has those wheels though, when I saw him live last Thursday, he stuck out just because of that speed. Fully recovered from all his injuries he looks good. I wouldn't mind him on our 3rd line and PK next year.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but since we are talking about re-signing both Gags and Hall in this thread I thought it was suitable.

Gagne, while not putting up as many points, has done very well for the Flyers and has easily been one of the smarter players on the team.

Gagne has been playing well as of late. He can still assume a top-6 role for a limited period of time and he hasn't lost his hockey sense.

I just hope that Homer will also take Gagne's injury history into consideration when offering him a new contract - the likelyhood of him lasting a full 82 game season is slim to nothing. It would bring him back for a salary south of 3m. If he asks for more, let him walk...same goes for the length of contract: 1 year is good, 2 years are ok only if it brings down the cap hit and helps them in terms of roster planing, > 2 years = stupid.

Gagne hasnt been bad. He's just not as good as he once was. I want him back next season, maybe two seasons if he can stay healthy.

Buy out Briere and there is more than enough room. I don't even see a spot that Briere fits on this team next season.
