Pretty much, and whenever they're put out there with DD/Max it effectively kills both units.

Patches needs to be the net presence who slips out into the slot for one-timers.. Playing the half-wall isn't right for him because he's not a strong playmaker.

So....Eller would be on pace for pretty much a 50 point season over 82 games, with hardly any PP time and an average of less than 15 minutes of ice time per game... Those who say that he hasn't improved over the last couple of seasons need to give their head a shake.

The guy will never be a prolific goal scorer, but he should be good for 20 goals and 30-40 assists on a consistent basis in this league.

He's on pace for 47 points this year, and that's with awful shooting luck.

17 points to 28 points to 47 points. I don't get what's so enigmatic about that progression. Everyone's favourite Lars Eller comparison, Jan Bulis, never got over 40 points.

Seriously? Bulis? Sorry, haven't read all of this thread...or any others that compared him to Bulis...course that's probably just me not paying attention
Anyhow, even though I have had my doubts about Eller, specifically if he would ever become a consistent offensive threat (i.e. get it all together), he has certainly shown he isn't just another one of those that shown flashes of brilliance but no consistency. He's good and seems to be getting better as time goes on. Would he ever be a 1st/2nd line C? Who knows. But is already a very good 3rd.
Bulis...if I recall correctly never shown real flashes of brilliance and was just fast...no real comparison from a skill level POV.

Thank you pineapple boy.
Yeah, bulis was really bad except for that night versus Philly.
I'll never forget that I was in my living room studying and listening to the game on the radio!

Eller is so much better, not even comparable.

Those that believe that can shake their heads as much as they want, if you can't see the potential and progression in Eller, then you're pretty clueless or insanely stubborn.
It's so obvious, how can anybody not see it?

I still don't understand how he wasn't promoted. Therrien came in with the ''I don't care if you're 35 or 18, whoever plays best will get more ice time'', so I don't see why Eller hasn't been given much of a chance.
I mean, if Eller was playing like DD on some nights, he probably would have been scratched, matter of fact he was singled out after game one despite the whole team looking like crap.

DD should simply be moved down, or to the wing, to see what else we have on our team. I mean, when you're losing 4-1 with goalies incapable of saving a beach ball, it might be a good time to try some things out.
I'd love to see Eller center Galchenyuk and MaxPac. Try Prust next to DD and Gally.

MaxPac had a couple extended shifts these past few games, every time with Plekanec, and they created things (even scored a goal). The MaxPac-DD duo hasn't really worked this year. MaxPac is a natural scorer, that's why he's still putting up good points, but I think we should move him around.

We should have done it a while ago, now we're just 5 games until the big dance so I'm not convinced Therrien will change anything at this point.

He meant Bulis. I remember something to do with NYR.

Also, Eller scored 3g in WPG, but scored the winner in the SO.

Eller should be on the second PP unit instead of DD who isn't doing much lately

His production is also fairly consistent month to month: http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id...89&view=splits

0.65 points/game since Therrien decided he was no longer in Ryan White's spot as 13th forward.

Man I just noticed that he has one less point than DD despite averaging 2 less minutes a game in total ice time.

Also he's one point behind last year's total in 34 less games.

Already has 80 hits in 45 games...he had 72 and 85 the year before in almost complete seasons.

He's really improved his play all-around. Very happy with his development.

Slowly but surely, he is becoming one of the Habs key component.

Glad for him and for the club.
