Well there you go. Edmonton will win it again.

Obviously Mackinnon is not on Barkov's level defensively but the improvement he has shown over last year in his defensive game is tremendous. He is also one of the youngest players in the draft and so is Barkov.
dear God you make McKinnon sound way too much like Legwand...

Is Legwand really that good of a skater? I don't get to see Nashville play much, only once this year.

I think Mackinnon ressembles Tyler Seguin a bit, I can see similarities in their playing styles.

He's slowed down a touch but Paul Kariya claimed Legwand was one of the fastest skaters in the NHL.

Legwand was one of the best skaters around in his younger days, the issue is that his offensive skillset never caught up really.

And MacKinnon or Barkov would be awesome. Even if we finished as the worst team in the league, I would not draft Seth Jones. I would trade down a slot or two with the Flames / Avs / Pants. We absolutely have to draft a premier forward; who knows when we will get a top pick again. This franchise is made to finish #5-10 in its conference every year.

I'd be happy, if not slightly underwhelmed if we got Jones.

We can see how he matures and then trade Weber in a few years for a King's Ransom if we can lean on Jones to be our cornerstone on D.

Popeye Jones is from TN, which means we would have a better chance of keeping him in Nashville for his career.

Preds can't get #13, 14. #10, 11 has a less than 3% chance of happening.

Even if they get a .500 record they will a probable hit for #4.

Losing out has 84% chance of winning #1 and #2 spot.

Ok honestly though, why are we not just benching pekka for rest of season?!?! Seriously?
Why play him, he may steal us a game or two and that would suck!

Four games left to lose, how many will peks play?!

Poor Legwand gets such a bad rap. He's a very good skater, and at times, shows flair to be an excellent puck handler. I just don't think he's ever had much of a killer instinct for the offensive end.

What if you had a trade planned for Weber that would net us a top 4 defenseman and a top 3 forward, would you do it? Jones, Klein, Josi and top 4 defenseman(Coburn) and Giroux? Getting an elite pairing defenseman to replace Weber, fill the second pairing hole with Coburn and add an elite talent up front to pair with Wilson and Forsberg. I'm not advocating those moves but as a GM or even a fan, would it make you stop and think for a moment?

The other option is, stick with Weber, move down a slot or two to land MacKinnon or Drouin, pick up an extra pick in the process, maybe a second or third, add a second pairing defenseman through free agency. No guarantees with MacKinnon or Drouin, no guarantee you land a second pairing defenseman in free agency and you still have those pesky Weber rumors...lol.

Do you go for the known or unknown? Granted, drafting Jones is an unknown too so you have to figure out which is the better asset management/risk assessment decision.

I would be apt to keep Weber, draft one of the guys to play center and hope MacKinnon or Drouin paired with Forsberg turn in to our Toews and Kane pairing. That is the best case scenario.

Yeah I pray he plays against Calgary! Lol.
But I mean seriously, why not tell pekka he can go have an early summer break and go with mason and smith/hellberg??
Then we can lose some with mason plus see how the young boys fare.

I wish there was some way we could get #2 and #3 to get Mackinnon and Drouin, but I highly doubt there's any way that happens unless we trade Weber. And if we do that, we need Jones, not Mac/Dro, so it defeats the whole point.

Why even play a goalie? Just keep six skaters on the ice
