Not a chance, that would actually give us a proper RHD core. If we trade Petry were right back to needing another RHD.

As I said in the last thread, whatever the price might be, get it done (ok, well not if they ask for Hall, but you know what I mean). He's a one of a kind player that has previously been thought of as 100% untouchable. Get him while it's actually possible

Unless you luck into Seth Jones I still think you trade the pick. You could potentially get a player that will be as good now as whichever player we get ever will be.

I had another brilliant stratagem involving Gags, Bely and Roy for Markstrom, Bjugstad and a plug.

Then move Hall or Peejar to centre and trade Hemmer for a hall of fame defender.

Lucic would be a perfect addition to the team all we need next is a big centre maybe upcoming RFA Patrick Berglund oh man could you imagine

Lucic-RNH-Eberle
Hall-Berglund-Yakupov

Too good

Watching the Winnipeg Jets, Evander Kane is Hall-lite. Better than Lucic.

I don't know why they'd want to trade him, but I float Hemsky and this year's first for him.

Fantastic player. Underrated.

Not a chance. Better point producer, yes (although this year will be the first time he's produced more). That's about it though. Go ask Emelin who he thinks is harder to play against

I wonder about Lucic...would he play well in the West? He's slow in the East, I don't know about the West.

I'd want him but I don't really want to give up Magnus and my guess is he'd have to go.

It honestly wouldn't matter in Edmonton. Whoever he played with in the top 6 would carry the puck.. Lucic would just have to chase the dumps, hit, and go to the net. Any pair you could dream of putting him with (Gagner-Yak// Nuge-Ebs) that would be the case.

Also, the game isn't all about speed. The oilers only have one line currently that actually cycles the puck in the offensive zone (the kids). Most successful teams do this. Adding Lucic would really help our cycle IMO.

It's not, but the West is a much faster game than the East. I agree he'd help our cycle but I still wonder if it would work.

I mean, it's up for debate. Kane's faster, a better point producer, younger, plays on a worse team and has more points... both are elite power forwards in my opinion, maybe Lucic being a bit more available.

But I'm not feelin' your argument here. Since Emelin crushes Kane, but gets injured by Lucic (more of a freak accident), Lucic is tougher than Kane?
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins crushed Brendan Morrow, and Hopkins got injured by the boards in Chicago (more of a freak accident), the boards in Chicago are tougher and a better player than Brendan Morrow?

Kane also onepunched Cooke. It's not as if he's a slouch.

Nope. We need a big & skilled centre more than an overpriced power forward.

Big skilled centres only come through the draft and this might be our last shot at one.

Curious how many points he had last season against west teams he seems have regressed on offence this season.

Winnipeg (management at least) value E.Kane as much as we value Hall, any success they will have in the future is riding on his shoulders. They wouldn't even entertain an offer that doesn't involve one of Hall, Eberle, or RNH.

Inconsistent in terms of multi point games/no point games (3A game against Columbus), but managed 13 points in 18 games

59 point pace. That's on par with what's expected from him.

If our pick gives us the option of Jones, MacKinnon, Barkov or Monahan, I think we should keep the pick and try to move excess players to fill holes. Otherwise, I agree.

I disagree. Kings, Blues, Coyotes, Sharks all play a rugged cycle game. Uncoincidentally, those are the types of teams against which the Oilers wilt.

On a talent comparison, I totally agree. But I'd rather have Lucic on the Oilers because we'd weigh grit/toughness more heavily than skill. Can you imagine Bieksa trying to cross-check Lucic?

Remember Angry Penner? He'd show up for a few minutes every 50 games or so. Lucic is nearly always like Angry Penner.

Except for right now, when he's being scratched.

Yeah, I ninja-edited a "nearly" into that last sentence.

Given his career, though, I'm willing to give him a bit of lee-way.

You asked that in the last thread and no one took you up on it. An entire decade of 1sts is an insane price to pay for any player. Gretzky didn't bring back that much.
