Interesting stat:

Desharnais is tied for first on our team with Eller and Pacioretty in takeaways with 22.

Not just Damphousse, Langdeau too.

Ryder - Plekanec - Gionta
Pacioretty - Eller - Gallagher
Galchenyuk - Desharnais - Bourque
Prust - Halpern - Moen/Dumont

- Ryder was great with Plekanec and Gio, line should've never been broken up
- Pacioretty/Desharnais need to be split up, Eller would bring needed size to that line and would help out a lot defensively
- Desharnais played a lot better when he had two guys with size on his wings, playing against other team's third lines they might be able to put up some points
- Wouldn't mind seeing Dumont taking Moen's spot for a couple of games but obviously wouldn't happen, kid has brought a lot of energy and it'd be nice to see him play more

Btw, Bozak is rumored to be commanding more than 5M/year for his next contract. Just to put into perspective Desharnais deal...

Pretty much everyone last night was on the "There's a problem with DD" page. All of them were fine with Eller being promoted.

When the team is doing well (overall), the French stuff doesn't matter as much. It's when we have nothing else to talk about cuz we suck (overall), that it get's into the franco/anglo/euro bs.

I do think DD is a good player, but he's not playing well, or the combo of him and Patch is playing horrendously. Give Eller a chance. (How many times has that been posted?)

I don't. We need all the faceoff specialists out of the division. We've lost quite a few games just from DD losing a faceoff and the opposing team scoring.

Tbf, he's been terrific for the leafs even when they sucked, but a big part of this year. His FO winning ability is a huge reason they win games and he scores goals too (against us mostly). I can understand him ASKING that. He's lost the plot if he thinks he's gonna GET that. I think he deserves as much as DD got based on his production and what he brings to the leafs' first line.

Don't try to bring any common sense on these threads created to first and above all to bash one of our players.
They say that love is blind. Hate is blind and deaf.

DD is having a difficult season for possibly the 1st time in his whole Pro carreer. He is not lazy and never was. He will rebound. If not this season, then next one.

By the way. He is still paid according to his old contract. Way less than Plekky and even less than Eller, or Moen.

Yes. Therrien should play him on a third line with different teamates. But is it DD who is calling the shots and demand his ice time and linemates ?

This season, Bozak has won 12.16 and lost 10.74 faceoffs per game, net +1.42. DD has won 7.91 and lost 8.14, net -0.23.

The difference is 1.65 faceoff wins per game. The Canadiens average 62.86 faceoffs per game. IMO that difference is not worth too many millions.

I don't think both players are easily comparable... and I don't even feel trying to do it. But both are considered offensive centers who have proved they can work on the top-6. And that's more or less the type of salary bracket these kinds of players command.

Therrien woke up finally!
DD's wingers are now free to work with NHL caliber centers:

Maxpac Pleks Gionta
Gally Eller Chuckie

Desharnais is finally having a good game tonight, too bad his wingers Bourque and Ryder are doing **** all...

Bourque looks like last season form.. plays scared without any edge.. and of course no finish at all... still a buyout candidate in my book..

DD on the ice for the Lightning tying goal and just useless on the power play. I'm just glad DD is not centering our top wingers anymore.

DD 0 points -1 only 14minutes icetime but 5:44 on the power play...

Bozak is singlehandedly sinking his lines possession numbers. Faceoffs don't make up for that.

Oh well, that gives him 2 points and +1 in two games, I guess.

I can't believe some people on these boards are actually yearning for a Habs player to fail. Makes you wonder why they aren't cheering for another team.

By the way, I'm waiting for your comment on how Rene Bourque doesn't belong in the NHL, due to having a similar statline. Just so it would look like you're actually concerned about the team, because, out of your 275 or so posts, there was probably 260 of them whose sole objective was to trash a player of a team you're supposed to be a fan of.

I've always been and will always be a habs fan.

I want the habs to win and I think that the habs best chance is with DD out of the lineup.

To quote the bard... 'begone minimus'

You WANT to believe their best chance is without DD in the lineup. Which is totally different.

The thing is -- they've been much longer NOT winning the Cup with Plekanec in the lineup than they've been with DD.

So I guess they can't win with Plekanec?

They can win with Plekanec as a 2nd center or even a 3rd center becausw Pleks is a complete hockey player.

DD is one dimensional at best and the habs will never win a cup with DD in the lineup.
My prediction is that DD will be gone before year end next year.
