Rangers/Jets in the offseason (Byfuglien)

Rangers get:

D Dustin Byfuglien

Jets get:

D Michael Del Zotto
F J.T. Miller
C Brian Boyle

Rangers get a right-handed defenseman, who can help on the PP, which they've been needing for the longest time. Jets get younger and get two very quality players. Del Zotto would look great next to Bogosian (or possibly Trouba when the time is right) and would provide a quality defensive pairing for years to come. JT Miller is going to be a very good player in this league also.

Any chance the Jets would be willing to include Burmistrov in any potential deal?

Ah, another quality for quantity deal. What follows? A trade 6 months later where NYR trades Staal to Winnipeg for 3 role players? How about sticking with your own players instead of the constant musical chairs

Change Boyle to Hagelin and I'd probably do it.

Mostly, I want Byfuglien so I can change my username to "I'm not Fuglie!" or "Byfug, the Goalie Slayer"

BTW, if you take those usernames, I'm totally suing you

Buff is sort of available, and we would like a top 4 LHD back. Del Zotto is a good candidate to build a trade around for Buff

I think that could be in the ballpark. Not really interested in Boyle, we have more than enough bottom 6 guys. Although his size does interest me, usually there's a reason players like him are traded.

Not a heck of a lot of scoring coming our way either, depending on how JT Miller turns out. We're very shallow when it comes to scoring, sometimes we need our D to help us out (such as today, 3/4 goals came from our D).

We'd prefer to trade Buff for a top 6 RW.

No from NY, but a nice attempt.
It's too much to pay for D.Buf., who commands a premium, but not THAT much of a premium.

Hell, swap Hagelin for Boyle, + Miller + MDZ = E Kane + Postma territory, not D.Buf

Hagelin, Miller, and MDZ doesn't get you anywhere near E. Kane, dude.

As a Winnipeg fan it doesn't come close to netting you Kane alone.

If the Rangers were to get Buff, Torts would have to go. Buff is a bit of a free wheeler, I don't think him and Torts could exist in the same room, never mind on the same team.

That's not even remotely correct. As a Jets fan, that's an easy no for Byfuglien and an NHL GM would get laughed out of the room for thinking that even gets considered for Kane.

That'd definitely help. If you're going to do a quantity for quality trade, the quantity has to at least provide useful depth; Boyle isn't useful to the Jets, they have plenty of fourth-liners.

Just dont see Winnipeg trading one of there better defenders in Byfuglien, I would think that both Bogosian and Byfuglier are untouchable in Winnipeg.

You would think so, but you're wrong. Bogosian certainly would be untouchable, but look at our current RHD depth:

Byfuglien
Bogosian
Postma
Redmond
Trouba

Postma seems to be a decent bottom pairing guy who is improving in his first year as a full-time NHLer. Redmond was injured, but previous to that injury he was playing heavy minutes on the 2nd pair. He played 20 minutes in his first NHL game!

Trouba is well known. So we have 2 veteran RHD and 3 NHL ready RHD. If management thinks Trouba is ready for full-time NHL - which they do otherwise they wouldn't have signed him to his ELC - that makes somebody trade bait.

I fully believe if Redmond wasn't injured in Feb that Buff would've been traded at the deadline.

Jets management laughs and proposes Nash for Little + Thorburn just to troll.

Byfuglien might be the most unique player in the league. Obviously not the best, but i think its pretty obvious to our team and our fan base that Byfuglien is worth quite a bit more than what is posted above.

Wouldnt trade him but if I were I think the Rangers could offer something like Girardi + Kreider + 2nd/3rd that might get our attention.

You make a good point and your probably right. Byfuglien could possibly be gone for the right price.

To be blunt, as a Jets fan, I'm fairly certain they'd accept that offer if the Rangers made it.

Having said that, I'd be surprised if the Rangers made that offer.

That's a brutal deal for the Rangers anyway, lol.

This is one of the best offers I've seen for Buff. Del Zotto would be cost controlled for a few more years which would be appealing to the Jets. At the same time, no one wants to see their (arguably) biggest fan favourite get traded for a collection of lesser pieces. Tough call

That's true except for the fact that it is not. That package does not get you Kane.

Love when I see people say things like "that offer would get a GM laughed out of the room". Falling short of some of the troll offers on here and a few certain people who make ridiculous and outlandish proposals, there's not a soul on here who knows what would get a GM laughed out of the room. Cut the **** and get off your soapboxes.
