Why not? The Blue Jackets are on the verge and most hockey writers/prognosticators had one thing to write/say in their pre-season synopsis for that team: "Yikes."

Apples and oranges. The jackets have bobrovsky playing the best hockey of his career. The flames have kipper playing the worst hockey of his career.

The jackets deserve all the credit in the world. The flames are stuck in the same mess they've been in for 4 seasons

Well there ya go, Detroit loses a game that on paper they should win and Columbus wins a game that on paper they should lose. Now Columbus is 2 points up in the standings, although Detroit has the regulation wins advantage and a game in hand. Should be interesting.

Man, it's really irritating to me to see fans of other clubs (who have playoff spots locked down) venting on Twitter about how "bad" their team is playing right now.

* I have a friend who's a Ducks fan.

Seriously, you don't know what "bad" is.

I want Columbus to go all the way. Not just playoffs, but go at least to the 3rd round.

Gives a bad team hope, y'know?

EDIT: Not that Columbus is a bad team... They've been historically pretty mediocre to bad... We just suck. If they can do it, we should be able to do it! Right? Right? Righ...

Considering that teams make up and ours. Man no way it should be close.
If they would've moved Iggy and Jbo at the start of the year sure, but right now I'd just love to see it. Flames fans had their hopes up for a top 3 pick and finally get that elite franchise player. It would just be so funny.

I know people count CGY out and I did too after the moves, but they are kinda playing the way I thought they would. They have a veteran team that is going to grind out more wins then they really need.

I'm hoping for NYI and CLB final. Both fanbases deserve it

Toronto is getting dominated at home again. It would be funny to see them get steamrolled in the playoffs.

They have a questionable defense and I don't trust their goaltending.

Stupid Tampa Bay was 47 seconds from getting at least a point and then they've gotta let Gionta score. WTF!

In other news, Dallas moved into a tie with Detroit for "9th".

Selling all their players and still almost making the playoffs?

They still have some good vets.

That's the common denominator amongst playoff bound teams and teams that are close to the playoffs.

HF's hypocrisy at its finest tonight. The Hall on Michalek slashed got three or four threads on the main board and dozens of posts crying for a suspension. Pietrangelo with the exact same slash on Hanzal and nothing here.

Of course - us lowly Oilers fans have to be put in our place.

True.

Here's the slash (or slashes): http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/con...ed-share-video

0:07 to 0:10. And then the replay at 1:09 to 1:14. Identical. Not to say Hanzal didn't deserve it.

Oh, those Coyotes. Always the victims.

Man, the Sharks are kicking the hell out of the Wild. 6-1.

Props to the guppies for showing that they're not toothless (yet).

Honestly, I normally don't give two figs for any other teams other than the Oilers (tier 16 fan though I admittedly am)... but when I see the Isles and BJ's busting their humps trying to get into the playoffs... I gotta admit I'm cheering for them both to not only get in but upset a team or two... and why couldn't they? They are getting hot and working hard at exactly the right time. I think they could definitely surprise people in the playoffs.

I'd cheer for the Islanders and Jackets but I'm a bitter, bitter man... so I can't. Thanks Lowe, thanks Uncle Daryl.

Lehtonen really helps them out. Kinda like Bob in CBJ. Those goalies aren't on top of their game then there teams start to struggle.

Torres with a dominant night. Goal and assist. Not a bad pickup. Gives Sharks some added depth that could move anywhere in the lineup. Just keep him off PP

I'm absolutely cheering for Columbus and NYI.

Fun to cheer for the hard-working underdogs.

Gotta feel for the people in Boston. City is on lockdown and another game rescheduled between the Bruins and the Pens until Saturday. That's the 3rd rescheduled game this season for the Bruins.

I hope that city can get back to normalcy and some semblance of peace soon.

Hopefully it is soon, they have shot and killed one suspect and think they have his brother trapped in a home.
