The official "Heap all praise on Laddy" thread. (First Star of week, 12th in points)

He's tied with Sidney Crosby with a league leading 39 ES points

What a season he's having, one of the most underrated player in the league.

To be fair, he has played 8 more games than Sid.

Although, it's still impressive who he has beat with similar games (Stamkos, Toews, Tavares etc.)

Now if we could only have a HALF DECENT POWERPLAY

I really liked him last year too. I just don't think he got the bounces last year. He wast he only guy ever in front of the net, and was always deflecting shots from the point. Great hand eye.

what i think he's improved upon this year is the giveaways, both neutral zone and defensive zone, and the offensive zone penalties. Those were my main complaints from last year with him.

Honestly, I still think that's a problem. Especiall his defensive one. Seems every game or two he does a half a** effort to get the puck out.

What drives me nuts are his backwards cross ice passes. Too many get picked off and screw the Jets D men. All in all the results are very good though so I can't complain.

He had one of those against the lightning I believe, it was to Little and it didn't connect and it just bounces out of the OZ into the NZ and heads the other way b/c two (or more) forwards are skating the other direction.

Yeah. It doesn't happen a lot, but I believe it happened twice on Tuesday.

Current stats:
  • 12th overall in scoring amongst all skaters, 12th in goals
  • 3rd overall in scoring amongst LW'ers, behind only Ovechkin and Kunitz (and only 4pts behind them, at that), 3rd in goals
  • 7th overall in ESG (tied with Wheeler)

Pretty darned impressive. If this were a full season, he'd be on pace for:

34G - 48A = 82PTS. In other words, a PPG player.

Ovechkin plays RW now so Ladd's second in LW scoring.

Ah yes! Forgot about that - NHL.com still has him listed as a LW'er. Good point though.

Imagine what Ladd's point total would be if the Jets actually had a powerplay that worked.

Andrew Ladd: 12th overall in points

I was reading Tait's article about the Jets' top line being one of the top scoring 1st lines in the NHL, so I decided to take a peek at the NHL scoring leaders.

I knew Ladd was having a great year, but 12th overall? Tied with points with John Tavares and 1 point behind Toews. Man...didn't realize how good his year actually was. in a full season, he's be on pace close to 90 points

Is this a pace that he can actually maintain though?

He's having a great year there is no denying that, but with a 16.07 shoot % its unlikely he will continue to put up these kind of numbers in future seasons.

The Jets' "third line" scrub of a captain? Trade him, stat! He's useless - less value than Antropov, Wellwood or Enstrom. Or at least that's what I recall from various threads last year and the beginning of this year.

Where are all the naysayers now?
