Where does Boyes end up next season?

Boyes accepted Snow's 1yr/$1m offer because he wanted to play alongside Tavares and Moulson. He said he wasn't concerned with his 2012-2013 salary, just rebounding from his 2011-2012 season and showing gms what he could bring.

He's played about 2/3 of the season on the 1st line and put up solid numbers, but I don't care if he comes back. He's weak defensively, adds no physical grit and is streaky. Before re-signing Vis, Snow said he wanted to re-sign Boyes. But, I'm guessing that would only be if he signed a reasonable, short term deal. I think the isles want to work 2-3 of Strome/Nino/Nelson/Lee into the top 9.

Which teams are likely to make a pitch for Boyes and what type of salary offers do you think he'll get?

2011-2012: 65 games, 8 goals, 15 assists.
2012-2013: 44 games, 9 goals, 25 assists.

He probably still won't make much money, for all of the reasons you listed.

I could see him going to a team like Dallas, who could use some cheap offense in the off-season.

Boyes has just spent 1 and 1/4 seasons in Buffalo and 1 season on LI. I would think he'll be looking for the security of a 3-4 yr extension.

What?

No offense problems in Dallas ATM, 4th highest goals for in the Western Conference, plus only Nystrom is a UFA. With the amount of cap space they have, if they go after a winger, it will be one of the top names.

if not with islanders, probably with boston i think...he had some good years there and good chemestry with Patrice Bergeron.

he is maybe a liability defensively but the guy obviously has some offensive skills.

i am guessing a team would offer him something like 3 years 10m on the open market.

he'll likely end up on his 6th NHL team.

They are shallow at right wing and signed UFA's Michael Ryder/Jaromir Jagr in back-to-back off-seasons as short term solutions. Just saying I could see Boyes being that guy next.

Chiasson, Smith, and Fraser are all top 6 guys, plus Brett Ritchie (already producing in the AHL) and Matej Stranssky on the way next season. Add in Erik Cole for 2 more seasons, and there is no reason to pick up Boyes.

i like fraser, but he hasn't shown me enough to be a top 6 in this league. he has the frame to play bottom 6 though.

stransky to me doesn't seem nhl ready i would expect him in the ahl for a year maybe 2, maybe he translates better than i expect but i wouldn't pencil him into a nhl lineup just yet.

Benn's RW will probably be Chiasson, 6 goals in his first 6 NHL games in case you missed it, Eakin's RW will probably be Reilly Smith who is showing decent instincts for goal even if he hasn't scored much yet, and Fiddler's RW will probably be Cole. Garbutt or Roussell on the 4th line and we are set

Fraser hasn't had much of an opportunity to play in the top 6 yet. I wasn't clear before, I meant there are further RW prospects in addition to those who have had NHL time this season.

Committing money and term to Boyes doesn't make sense in the short or long term.

Probably the Caps. We like to grab secondary scorers with various inconsistencies.

Wouldn't mind him in Carolina too much. He fits the bill of cheap, soft, one-dimensional players that Rutherford likes to sign so much, but if he can produce on the PP and give the second line a playmaking presence that'll be an improvement over guys like LaRose and Dwyer.

2 years/5.5m in reality. For Jim Rutherford this translates to 5 yrs/15 million and an NTC.

Depending on who the Pens are able to retain (Iggy, Morrow, Dupuis, Cooke), there could be room in Pittsburgh if he's looking for another short cheap deal (say less than 1.5m).

If he's smart then he'll stay with NYI unless another team gives him 5 years or something (which I don't think anyone would).

Vancouver, 5 years, $8.75M ($1.75M AAV). I think he'd look good on Kesler's wing and the Canucks need some low cap hit guys next year.

Boyes is confident that someone will give him good deal.

"I think I proved what I needed to this season with the deal I took,'' Boyes said. "We'll have to see what happens when this season ends.''

If the Isles get into the playoffs, I could see both sides renewing their relationship
