You get a guy named Kane but you lose the deal on a hockey basis.

as jet fan.... i'd totally do the OP

MDZ adds a needed top 4 lhd

miller = decent upside young center/winger

boyle = depth/good 3c

and we lose a player from our deepest position of strength.

works for me

Byfuglien might be the most unique player in the league. Obviously not the best, but i think its pretty obvious to our team and our fan base that Byfuglien is worth quite a bit more than what is posted above.

Wouldnt trade him but if I were I think the Rangers could offer something like Girardi + Kreider + 2nd/3rd that might get our attention.
Way too much, no thanks.

IMO the value isn't there. We're giving up quite a lot of point production. MDZ is a good starting point, but we need a good proven forward coming back as well.

I'm just trying to picture Byfuglien coming into a Torts' training camp the way he did this season. Oh dear lord.

Also that's a bad offer from the Rangers.

How is this quantity? The OP offered some pretty enticing pieces for Big Buff. I'd dare say this is better for Winnipeg than New York.

Do you mean last offseason?

This offseason he came in extremely light. Possibly the thinnest he's ever played at.

Rangers get a right-handed defenseman, who can help on the PP, which they've been needing for the longest time. Jets get younger and get two very quality players. Del Zotto would look great next to Bogosian (or possibly Trouba when the time is right) and would provide a quality defensive pairing for years to come. JT Miller is going to be a very good player in this league also.

Any chance the Jets would be willing to include Burmistrov in any potential deal?
Sather would laugh at you for proposing that. It never ceases to amaze me how Del Zotto is the whipping boy for many clueless Rangers fans. Yet, when McDonagh and Girardi have been stinking up the joint all season, they never mention it.

Postma seems to be a decent bottom pairing guy who is improving in his first year as a full-time NHLer. Redmond was injured, but previous to that injury he was playing heavy minutes on the 2nd pair. He played 20 minutes in his first NHL game!

Trouba is well known. So we have 2 veteran RHD and 3 NHL ready RHD. If management thinks Trouba is ready for full-time NHL - which they do otherwise they wouldn't have signed him to his ELC - that makes somebody trade bait.

I fully believe if Redmond wasn't injured in Feb that Buff would've been traded at the deadline.
where do you come up with this stuff?

The deal with Hagelin would have to be seriously considered from the Jets side, it addresses a lot of the long term needs for them. Not sure what NYR's needs are and if Buffy is a fit there however. WPG probably also has to add a pick or prospect to balance the deal.

It's the exact same for Dustin Byfuglien. He has a crowd of boo birds who only pop up when he makes a mistake, and never when he wins the team a game.

Thank you!

Who said Del Zotto was a whipping boy? I said that the Jets have plenty of RHD in the system (which eliminates Girardi) and McDonagh is a better player and has more upside than Del Zotto. With Staal, McDonagh and Moore, Del Zotto becomes expendable, but it doesn't make him a whipping boy.

Take Miller off the table (and add a 2nd/3rd rounder) and I do it.

Swap Miller for Kreider, take out Boyle and you have yourself a deal.

MDZ is so over rated.
Buff will command better then that.

MDZ to me is a good enough player to be a centrepiece for Buff coming back. Not sure how good JT Miller is or could be so I won't comment there, maybe someone could fill me in. I'd be looking for a talented 2nd line/3rd line RW instead of Boyle. Maybe Miller could be that guy I'm not sure..

Basically, if we're moving Buff, we need to address the hole he fills in terms of D minutes.

MDZ does that, and well, because we need LHD more than RHD, and that gives us Enstrom and MDZ on the left, and Bogo, Trouba, Redmond on the right. A little iffy next year but on a 3 year plan? that looks awesome.

So Buff for MDZ+ is something that makes sense depending on the +

We need a RW to play with Kane. Hopefully we will have him a center next season in Scheifele, but the RW spot still isn't accounted for. I think a Burmi Schief Kane like would be fierce (Burmi's possession stats combined with the scoring of the other two) but I'd love to fill that spot via trade and leave Burmi to steer the ship on the 3rd, too.

So the ideal for the Jets is if the '+' plays RW with Kane. What that + is it's hard for me to say, since I don't know enough about the Rangers team.

What do we have to add to buff to get Del Zotto + Callahan?
