Now let's see if the Flyers have guys playing hurt. Since we are eliminated from contention, we should sit anyone that has any sort of injury. Get it taken care of and look forward to next year.

I'd sit Kimmo regardless. If next year is his last year, every mile we can keep off of him counts.

Timonen is at the top of my list for sitters. Then Hartnell and Briere. Minimize Giroux's ice time and let the youngsters play the big minutes.

And, personally, I don't care who is in nets.

Use one buyout, kick some tires on defensive upgrades, and draw up a new team strategy with or without Laviolette. Then come out firing in September.
I agree

the defense needs to be retooled, but we have a lot of talent up front. The goalie is also a question mark

Yes, if a reasonable deal -- ie, no egregious overpayment and no sacrificing the future for plugging in a vet -- to upgrade defensively becomes available, Holmgren should do it. But I think patience is the way to go.

And regarding goaltending, I'm tossing out this mutant season for analysis since the team was so bad from the opening puck drop and Bryzgalov (IMHO) was played to exhaustion. That doesn't mean I'm confident in him, but I just think this season doesn't provide an accurate way of assessing. If this team was tooled offensively and defensively to compete strongly next season, I'd be more inclined to try to "solve" the goaltending; however, there are still too many question marks going into next season. Therefore, since a second buyout (assuming Briere gets amnestied this off-season) is available, I'd advocate starting the season with Bryzgalov-Mason.

Well, I hope Mason does well, whether we win or lose. It will help for his confidence and it will give us good hopes for next year.

That Mason mask is pretty awesome. I do hope it's like a 2-1 loss or something. Even if it's more, I want Mason to do well tonight.

It's disturbing looking at the injury list MSE has complied and seeing so many "out this season".

Completely agree sit anyone over 35 and decease play of any proven players. Couts and schenn should be playing top line together.

Lets get a loss boys!

I hope Mason does well and the loss is from a fluke bounce with the puck rebounding off the boards behind him and then hitting into the back of him and into the net for a goal.

awww craaaaap we already used that one.

With the flyers officially eliminated I'm glad Lavi is changing things up, oh wait

Yeah I would put someone else on their line to see if something happens. There's no guarantee Gagne's back next year so I rather try someone who will.
