Diaz is probably the 3rd best defensive Dman on this team after subban and gorges. He's better than emelin markov and drew in his own end.

Totally agree with you on the lack of size though. Subban is the heaviest dman on the team!

I don't know any of the shopped references(did not experience the 80s), so could someone give me a little briefing on them?

Great work again, RM!

Happy bday Et le But!

Pumped to see that our euro flair is back. (What other team in the NHL has a player with a name as cool as Raphael Diaz?)

It's been awhile since we saw him, so I hope we're not overrating him. Win will be big tonight, but by no means impossible. Last home game before playoffs, let's get the BC rocking.

^ I was just about to request the GIF. Awesome hahahah!

Habs will clinch home ice advantage if they win tonight, right?

In Habs win and Leafs lose in regulation time or OT or SO tonight against Ottawa, Habs will finish ahead of the Leafs. Habs would have 61 points and Leafs 53 or 54 with both teams having 3 games to play.

Markov, Subban, Diaz, Weber, Gorges and Bouillon. If there are a softest D in the league, I want to know it. Not a D build for the playoffs.

Easy fix: scratch Weber and bring up Jarred.

So we've seen the best and the worst of the habs. At this time of the season what I wanna see right now is confidence back on track. I wanna look at the team and tell myself "they can beat anybody if they work hard enough".

Go Habs Go. I don't care if they lose tonight if they play well.

haha yup.. the counter attack/offensive rush will be in full force.

Hoping the Markov Diaz pairing can turn into a 2nd pairing version of Lidstrom rafalski

Subban, Gorges and Bouillon are not soft. I would like to see Weber replaced by Drewiske with reasonable minutes, say 12.

No need for both Diaz and Weber in the lineup. And Weber is the softer one of the two.

Diaz need to return with Josh on the 2nd pairing, plz! Subban could help Markov alot defensively....

Markov-Subban----25 min
Gorges-Diaz---20-22 min
Bouillon-Drewiske/Weber/Pateryn(?)

Saying that it's the softest one doesn't mean they are all soft. Subban isn't. Gorges and Bouillon do the best they can. They don't mind the rough stuff. But they can so easily be pushed around that it makes their "not-softness" irrelevant. Their persona isn't soft, their play happens to be by being unable to win too many 1 on 1 battles due to size and strength. Put it all together and it makes this entire group one of the softest in the league. Thank God Subban is in there 'cause it would be the ultimate soft one.

Doubtful that Diaz will be at full speed in his first game back. I'm really glad he's healthy, but I'm worried his rust will open a boatload of leaks on our D. Our weaknesses are mostly in our zone and I don't see that improving until Diaz gets a few games under his belt. Hope I'm wrong.

I think Emelin's injury has far more impact.

Diaz and Markov, like it. Diaz is a fast skater.

Together they ought to be one of the best puckmoving defense-pairings in the league.
