I'd actually like the team to prove us wrong with that statement. Emelin is good, he's done a good job, but if that one and only injury is the reason for the team's crumble, let's give up all hope right now.

Basically if Emelin is such a huge loss, let's hope Diaz coming back is a huge +, to balance things.

By the way....I've never commented on the GDT....but this one is a piece of anthology. HFBoards should have a competition of the best GDT and post it on the main boards and have people voting on it. And I will most definately vote for this one.

So many other fans don't see those GDT and it's a big loss for them.

Just a thought....

Wasn't there a GDT tournament last year, where each team nominated their best GDT of the season? I believe on of MiG's threads made it to the final rounds but lost to one of the fantastic threads from the San Jose forum.

Because right now this thread is the clear front runner if they do it again, and we've had some great threads already this year. I hope someone is keeping track of them.

You're right. Forgot about that. Yet, there should be an open threads, even if it's not a competition, so that we post every GDT in there for everybody to see. Obviously GDT's with some kind of effort in it. Which means that ours will ALWAYS be in there....

There is a Best GDTs of the year thread on the main board and the Waffle Cup competition for GDT of the year should start later on.

Even though, for GDT purposes, the Sharks are our primary rivals, don't underestimate the Isles... this year's tournament will be held after the SCF so we can allow GDTs of playoff games to be a team's entry, should there be playoff teams that put their best GDT efforts in the playoffs. Plus we will use the realigned NHL divisions in the Waffle Cup for the first time this year.

The ones I put in that thread were the best two Habs GDTs this year IMO. We will have to make a tough decision, since parity has reached the East with respect to GDTs.

I got a good feeling for tonight. Yes, our D is soft but it would still be soft even if we replaced Weber with Drewiske. So we're playing to our strength which is transition. Our fast skating D will have to be able to get to the puck before the forecheckers and then move it quickly with the help of our forwards who will need to get back deep to offer good options for a quick pass.

I think Carey will have a monster game! (in a good way)

If D-men for tonight are Subban/Markov/Diaz/Gorges/Bouillon/Weber, would that be the smallest D-squad ever put on the ice averaging 5'11" and 200 pounds?

Sucks that the Jets are going to need us to win for them.

We suck against the Caps.

This win would feel double good, because I'd love for the habs to help out the Jets. It would be amazing to see them in the playoffs after 18 years. I would watch just to hear the crowd's emotion.

Anyways, If Diaz is playing and weber is in, the 2nd unit PP goes from hopeless to very promising... but that is assuming weber doesn't fall apart, which he has a habit of doing. But even diaz on his own is a huge upgrade.

Does anyone know D pairings with Diaz back? Is he with Markov?
