I went to the Wing fest today. (My first time.) I'm glad to see people had a good time in years past.
I guess there was an unusually large crowd today. The man on the PA mentioned that everyone came today because of yesterday's rain.
The lines were super long and it was hard to get food. Vendors often ran out of wings. It was kind of nuts.
I didn't have a really good time but I think I'll give it another chance next year. I think with a smaller crowd it might be a lot of fun.
(I've tried wings and ranch dressing and it's pretty good. There is a great taco place in Derby called Bobbo's that makes a Chicken Cajun Ranch taco that is excellent. Tastes a lot like a wing dipped in ranch.)
by the way, last year i had some wings at a bar on washington street. as you're walking away from the HSBC arena, it's on your right side, about 3 or 4 blocks up.
does anyone know of that place? if so, what's the name?
I might be the only person to say this, but I detest buffalo wings. I tried some when I was in town in August, and it makes me sick to think back on it. That bleu-cheese sauce or whatever:

Not a big fan of bleu cheese myself, but buffalo wing sauce?

could be the 'washington lounge' (it's called something like that) where i dont think i've ever been but i pass it all the time on the way to another bar right there, 'the irish times.' they're not right on washington street, but one block up on swan. they're wings are decent enough (best to ask for em extra crispy) but their nachos are some of the best i've ever had. and believe me when i say i am quite the accomplished nacho eater. great chicken fingers too.
aside from those two, there isnt much in that particular stretch of washington street, save the bar/restaurant inside the baseball park, pettibone's.

i think 'washington lounge' is it! thanks.
now these nachos you're talking about - are they are at washington lounge or at the irish times?

Edited. Been there many a time for lunch. Never had the wings though.
