Paponi used to be a very good prospect, woulden't surprise me if his current wages are something around €3000 (210k for a backup/roster player with a tight salary cap). It's understandable I say

This. Even if Paponi showed potential during his tryout, it doesn't worth it if we have to pay a decent chunk of his salary. We would be wasting valuable cap space and a internation spot on a back up. And, indeed, we have Wenger.

Time to let Paponi walk. If he is not good enough to spend that kind of money on he is not worth it.

Sick of hearing about this guy.

Haha okay I take what I said about Paponi back.

Hope it works out.

Also according to TVA Sports Rivas has asked to leave the club.

Really starting to wonder this. What is better? MLS Superdraft or Player scouting?

Basically, Which Caliber of players are better? Can't forget that College players get drafted at around 22 years old. Players from the Superdraft (Wenger, Smith, Mallace) or young players scouted (Felipe, Paponi, Romero[ not Europe I know], Rodriguez).

Basically, instead of drafting, should we focus on our own academy and external scouting for the future rather than relying on the MLS Superdraft?

It is always possible to find a way around the MLS' rules.

WTF for Rivas lol.. Why? We're actually helping him recover. Ain't our fault his body is made out of glass

My understanding is that Rivas is considering retiring.

Also, at the end of the article they suggest that the Impact are trying to bring they superdraft pick Paolo Del Piccolo who's playing in Germany. Anyone knows him?

There is a paragraph in that article that is not clear. It's not clear wether they were talking about Warner or Paponi when they said that coaches will ease his integration into the lineup as a midfielder. Do they have plans to convert Paponi into a midfielder?

MLS superdraft is free draft choices so why not use them, he other option would be to trade them if possible.

No need to focus on only one way to bring players.

New/old topic: I think they should play 4213.

MDV might be deceptively fast but I'd rather he plays at CF-ish in front of Felipe. We have enough talent to play a possession game.

Bernier-Arnaud/Warner
Felipe
MDV
Wenger-Romero/[striker/winger]

Well if you can get 100K allocation $$ for a Draft Pick, it's something worth considering IMHO. Also am expecting Papponi to be a second striker for this team. I really think the front line belongs to MDV and Wener. Papponi will probably be part of an alternating Attackig mod trio including Felipe and Arnaud

I thought Arnaud had a great start to the season but the last few games he has not been great. Maybe he can sit for 1 or 2 and try someone else in that position.

....Although I could say that about at least 6 other players on the pitch.

Was thinking of that last night. Told myself ideally I would want him on a weak western team.. But all the "Weak" teams in the west are doing well, and all the "Good" western conference teams are in the bottom

Thanks. Is he good enough at this point to be a starter. Do we even have an open international spot at this point?

Also, what position does he play?

I believe he's a midfielder.

Also, he's American so he won't require an international spot.

Haha

This team signs way too much useless foreign players, I mean players from D2 are really that bad ?? You can risk 1 and 2 signings at max but Sick and tired of all these reject-SA loanees ending up nowhere. I thought Felipe was an exception coming in from Switzerland but Im afraid he isn’t. As for Rivas, if he wants to leave let him leave. That will teach the management not to let go young prospect (valentin comes to mind). btw Where is Warner? Finally, I know I was very harsh to Ouimette but I agree that playing alongside Nesta is a MAJOR benifit, he should start as much as possible. Hopefully by next year he will be good enough to be MLS regular.

Paponi, is he any good? Wenger should play more he was our 1st PICK FFs.

Just watched the LA-SKC game. Very entertaining game, LA was very dangerous all night long. SKC was a little slow but it's understandable, they played a midweek game in NY and then traveled across the country for this game.

I really like one of LA's chants. The stadium goes quiet and one half of the stadium screams L A and the other half responds with GALAXY. Sounds real nice!

Edit: Here it is
