Haha it was the only bright side of losing in a shootout. I could get rid of that damned avvy.

Oops, you're right. Stupid me was counting Toronto game. Damn, if only Washington could have won. We have a much better chance of catching Ottawa than Washington.
Rangers also play NJ twice, and with Kovalchuk back, NJ could win one or two.
Florida is due for a win too. They were playing decent hockey before running into this 5 game losing streak.

If we lose the Washington game then our season is over.

Happy with the point. Jets were outplayed by the Islanders most of the game. I think the Islanders are the more talented team so no shame in losing to them.

-noticed on a few 3-on-3s in the first the Jets' defensemen/forwards collapsed resulting in excellent scoring chances for the Isles..and they ended up scoring on one of them. Might have been Bogo's fault on that one..
-Isles pressured the Jets with a strong forecheck throughout the game. Seemed most effective in the first with several excellent scoring chances. Fortunately, they missed the net on a few opportunities otherwise it could have been an early 3-0 lead.
-Nice comeback by the Jets in the 2nd period to tie it up. Nice to see welly contribute.
-both Clitsome and Bogo ****** up on that 4th goal by the Isles. Classic case of playing the body instead of the puck by Clitsome and Bogo should have stayed in front of the net instead of chasing after the Isles player in the corner.
-Love the Jets never-say-die attitude. Force the penalty with the some hustle in the opposition zone to give them the man advantage which results in the game-tieing goal. Also, nice call by the coach to pull the goalie to give the Jets an extra man down low.
-Pavs didn't play that good (though he did have a few beauty saves), but the defense in front of him shares the blame. In fact, the Isles defense was nothing to write home about either. Seems both teams share that trait.
-LLW was good again, no surprise there. Only glaring mistake I can remember was Ladd's giveaway at the Isles' blueline which lead to a breakaway.
-nice to see Bogo's offense come around, but I'm concerned about the defensive lapses. He has taken a step back from last year. Be interesting to see how that affects his upcoming contract for next season.
-overall, pretty happy with this homestand. 5 - 0 - 1 is excellent. Originally, I thought 7 - 2 would be enough to get the Jets into the playoffs. Might have to rethink that..could be 7 - 0 - 2 or 7 - 1 - 1 will be required to take 8th.

The Islanders, were the better team today. Im definatly happy the Jets, got a point out of this game. The Jets, could of very easily got nothing at all, from this game. Pavs wasn't great, but he made a couple of big saves when needed. Go Jets Go!

Yep, thought the exact same thing at the time.

As much as I love Bogo, he allows his emotions to get the best of him and today was a pretty good example. Hockey games are decided by goals, not body checks. Way too critical of a game to get wound up on laying players out, play the puck.

Jets playoff hopes are like the setting sun. No totally gone, but soon enough. I'm telling ya, those back to back home loses against Washington was the season. Soon after they lost first place and you know the rest. The Jets have to win out and get some luck.

Yeah bad defense there, but I absolutely loved the rage in him. Man, he wanted to kill that guy after he got hit in the head lol.

A couple of weeks ago I thought 52 points would be enough to get in; but with the 5-6-7-8 teams all playing pretty well that's not going to cut it. Gonna need 54.

The Jets are playing really good competitive hockey with huge efforts & are hungry right now which Jets fans more than appreciate.

The other teams are just not losing.

***** happens!

My prediction in a previous thread that Wellwood would be the first Jet to record a hat trick was sooooo close to coming true!

Playoffs are a longshot for this year, but I feel really optimistic about the future with the team we've got now. Our guys really have the power to turn it on and do what's needed when it's needed. Even a bad game against one of the league's top teams (at the moment) comes down to a shootout. I'm really impressed.

Yeah I remember we said we just needed to go 7- 7 over the final 14 and we'd be home and clear. Then we lost five in a row. Now we're 5 - 5 - 1 with three to go and it's looking like it'll take 8 - 5 - 1 to do it.

They got us at 19.3% to make it.

I look forward to proving them wrong.

yup...those two games will likely go down in jets lore.....

we have to win all three and hope ottawa or boston beat washington.....not impossible....have been outscored 13-1 in the last three games v washington and haven't beat the Habs in 28 years....but stranger things have happened....its all about pavalec.

we could lose one of the three assuming it isn't the washington game as long as they lose to both ottawa and boston.

it seems most likely that washington is our only hope at this point....

Since April 1, the combined record of the three teams the Jets have been chasing is 23-4-3. NYR are 7-3-1, NYI are 8-0-2, and WAS are 8-1-0.

I distinctly remember a lot of the media that cover the Jets saying; beat the Caps twice and we seal the deal, that along with a home win over Carolina and we would have already clinched the SE.

Yeah that's pretty unusual. If I remember correctly, 14 games ago Sportsclubstats had the Jets making the playoffs at a nice 83% even if they just went 7-7. That's pretty good. But we have basically gone 5-5-1 and that chance has dropped down to 20% because of all those teams putting together an unbelievable combined record.

Ah poop. A little less than 1/5th. Better than last year... at least a week from now we'll know one way or the other (maybe sooner).

If all our D played like Bogo we wouldn't be talking about the possibility of making the playoffs... we'd be planning the parade

Seriously though, Bogo plays a heavy game and I really hope management signs him to an 8 year deal.

Remember Claude talking about how important those early season points were going to be? Well sure enough it looks like they will come back to haunt us. Lots of easy points left on the table in the first half of the season.

Jets need to beat the Caps and win at least 1 more of their other 2 games. if they lose to Wpg, there is a chance that the Caps can finish the season 0-3. slight, but possible.

actually they've outplayed most of their opponents but just couldn't score - hopefully lighting it up vs florida changes this

add to that the rivalry w rags and I'm hopeful

It's still a simple fact that if the Jets win their remaining games they will make the playoffs.

Yes, statistically speaking the odds of the Jets winning three straight are less than 20%.
