Exactly. Not everyone can be 250+ lbs of pure muscle like Oleksiak.

I'm really not concerned about it. It's not like he's stepping in right away. He has time to bulk up

So I guess this means Gernat and Musil go up to to the AHL next year. Joining Marincin and Davidson. Should be interesting to see them all developing together.

You act like genetics prevents someone from adding mass. The guy just isn't eating enough in the off season.

Is it just me or does Bigos look incredibly out of shape? I want him signed too, but don't think he's going anywhere until he gets in shape.

Good good, lock up a player with actual upside instead of Ewanyk/Kessy.

If you have a fast metabolism just eating a lot won't do anything. My brother eats like he should be over 300 pounds (pizza, junk food and fast food every day) but he is 6 foot 1, 140 pounds.

throw in a few beers that will lower that metabolism

False. A person burns x amount of calories in a day, if they eat more than that they gain weight, if they don't they lose or maintain weight. Sorry fast metabolism is just an excuse. Sure some people need to eat more to gain weight due to different genetics, size and physical activity, but yes "just eating a lot" will make you gain weight if you're eating enough.

Agreed, but AHL/NHL training and nutrition staff should be able to find something that works for him. He should be able to pack on a bit more weight.

It sounds like he'd benefit more from another year in Edmonton next season. Then break him into OKC in '14-15.

Thanks, I'm not too sure how the overage rules work in the CHL. If he's turning pro then he needs to follow the same regimen that Marincin did this past offseason.

As previously mentioned would take a 20 year old and import slot so it's not happening. Why is everyone so worried about his weight? He's not going to be NHL ready for a while, has lots of time. One of the Oilers bloggers had a quote of him saying he knows he needs to gain weight and wants to be ~225 I believe. Still pretty skinny for someone who is 6'5, but whatever.

And yes, obviously an ectomorph that has trouble putting on weight, but it's not like a professional hockey club can't recognize that.

Its based on their age at the start of the calendar year that the season starts in. So for 2013-14 its based off his age at the start of 2013.

Ya its only the draft where their age is based off September 15th, thats why Yakupov just missed the draft Nuge was in.

Question: Who would we have drafted if Yakupov wasn't available? Galyenchuk?
