I'm guessing that the only reason the show stayed on-air is because when Fox negotiated Seth MacFarlane's contract they told him he needed to make one or two more shows.
I always figured it was because they thought eventually Seth's fans would warm up to it. I mean I remember people not liking American Dad when it first came on, not to the same disdain as Cleveland, but still.
As a KOTH fan I'd be all over it, but look at the simple fact that FOX haven't even bothered to release the DVDs past season 6, and only region 1 got season 6 on DVD. If KOTH was really that popular they'd have released them all the way no? And I think it's cancellation was written on the wall long before The Cleveland Show was being televised, I think FOX just needed a decent enough of a show to try and replace it with.
A fresh new KOTH would be great but IMO the last few season got really really stale, a standard story line would be Hank would be horrified that Bobby/Peggy/one the guys/whomever would do something whacky and then Hank would stoically try and remedy the situation.
No surprise really. I didn't mind the show but it seems like I am in the minority on that 1.
I watch it but (as with most the shows I watch) it's on in the background while I pay roughly half-attention. It's not great but it's not horrible. I DVR it each week but I won't miss it. There had been some really funny moments on it here and there, but I can't even remember what they were so take that FWIW.
I'd love to see a KOTH return though. I forgot that it was canceled for this. I believe my initial reaction back then was like:

I talked to a lady in the FOX Video Dept. about 3 years and she said that FOX had no plans on releasing any more KOTH Season Sets or a Complete Series Boxed Set. However - this proves that FOX was planning on releasing Season 7 at some point back in 2006.
