Romo was having an MVP season last year until the end, and his stats are very good.

I guess Dallas' thinking was there's nobody out there to replace him.

Romo does put up some good numbers but all that money for a guy with a single playoff win is ridiculous. Isn't next year's draft supposed to be deep at QB as well?

This story is so touching, I am going to be rooting for the guy to succeed

http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs...opstories.html

Quote:
At 17, Brian Banks had what high school juniors dream of. Ranked 11 th nationwide as middle linebacker, the Californian had committed to play football at the University of Southern California after a series of offers from other Division 1 schools.

All of that went away the day he was wrongfully convicted of ****.

Now, at age 27, after spending five years in prison, five on probation and receiving an exoneration, Banks revived his dream and signed on to the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday.
"I can't believe this is happening. It's surreal," he said in a conference call to Atlanta and national media shortly after signing his contract. "Aside from getting my life back and my freedom back, this is the biggest accomplishment of my life. But it is also just the beginning."

In 2002, Banks was accused by a friend of **** and kidnapping. After waiting a year to stand trial and despite a lack of DNA evidence, he pleaded no contest in order to avoid a possible 41-year sentence. The plea deal resulted in five years behind bars.

After he was released from jail in 2007 at the age of 22, he was placed on probation. The restrictions outlined that he had to register as a sex offender, could not live within 2,000 feet from any school or park, and he had to keep a GPS device around his ankle to ensure that he did not leave the state.

One day, he received a friend request on Facebook from the woman who had started it all.

"She was hoping that we could allow bygones to be bygones," Banks told "60 Minutes."

Upon meeting with her twice, he and a private detective were able to tape a retraction in which she stated, "No, he did not **** me."

On May 24, 2012, he was exonerated by the same judge who put him behind bars nine years earlier.

Jets signed up Dawan Landry. Another good, under the radar move by them. I like what Idzik is doing. Quiet, cheap, upside. Stop gaps with potential while remaining flexible for the future. It's not the circus it once was and I love it. The Jets may yet bring me back.

Don't know too much about 2014 if that's what you are referring too.

This year's? No.

Geno Smith is the top-rated QB, but even he might not go top 10, which is unusual for the best QB. Matt Barkley is another guy who's up there, but teams might be reluctant to take him considering how bad USC QBs end up being (see Leinart and Sanchez).

It's deep in the sense that a team can get a solid QB in the later rounds such as Mike Glennon of NC State, EJ Manuel of Florida St. and Tyler Wilson of Arkansas.

My top QB is Ryan Nassib from Syracuse. I go to Rutgers, so I tend to watch a lot of Big East games. Nassib isn't flashy, but he gets the job done. I'd compare his game to Matt Schaub or Jay Cutler.

Nassib is not the top QB at all. I have no idea how he could even be considered that. The top two are Manuel and Smith. I think that you could argue that Nassib is a 2nd round pick instead of a 3rd, but that's about all you could really argue. Nassib is a much, much less talented version of either Schaub or Cutler (and I don't get those comparisons at all).

What I meant was Ryan Nassib was going to be the best. Not that he IS the best right now.

I've watched Geno Smith and he gives off the vibe that he's going to be a great college QB, but a less than talented NFL QB. Manuel is a solid QB prospect. But again, I've watched a lot of Ryan Nassib, maybe that makes me bias, but he's a QB who will get the job done. I compared him to Schaub and Cutler in the sense that he will be a solid starter, but he's not going to be the guy to bring you to the promised land without a great supporting cast.

And if you read what I wrote I said Geno Smith was the top-rated QB.

Nassib will do better in a league where wide outs can catch his fastballs.

He'll be a good backup or a middling to mediocre starter.

Honestly, the only thing I care about right now is if Hakeem is healthy and Eli-Cruz play like they did two years ago. Whoever we draft isn't going to be a huge impact, and while we've made some shrewd FA moves nothing there really changes the fortune of this team either. If 'Keem can play at least 13 healthy games and be healthy for the po's if we make them, we're contenders.

Seen a few mocks with Chance Warmack falling to the Gmen. Now that would be nice.

I still would put money on a pass rusher being the first selection. Werner has been mocked to them a lot. I could see it. But I think the real target could be Tank Carradine if the knee checks out. Fits the mold of pure athleticism the Giants seem to look for in round 1.

Looking at both Gints and Jets schedules, both should win 10 games. Giants moreso, that seems like a very friendly schedule. Jets too but unlike the Giants they make it hard on themselves every year.

Giants make it hard on themselves every year, too. the second half of this seasons schedule doesn't look too bad, so hopefully we can halt a second half collapse and get 10-11 W's.

Come on, you're gonna fight me on the Jets and Giants being just as hard on themselves?

No team in sports is a detriment to themselves more than the Jets the last 20 years.

Revis is flying to Tampa today, to take a physical and negotiate a contract. Sounds like the trade is all but done.

I'll miss Revis Island, but it's the right move for the franchise to make.

10:26AM: According to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports, the Jets and Bucs have already agreed to the terms of a trade. He adds that the Bucs and Revis have agreed on the basic terms of a new contract and the deal should be finalized by tonight or tomorrow morning.

FWIW, with that schedule, I see the G-Men going 9-7 next year.

There is no way Nassib will be the best, either. He's not a very good QB at all. Perhaps he can have a Chad Pennington-esque career. That's about it.

12 million hit in 2013, as opposed to having him on the roster for 9 million in 2013, and if he left it would have been a hit of 9 million in 2014. So better to get the 12 million over with now considering free agency is basically over.

Great trade for Tampa, they have the money, and none of it is guaranteed. I do wonder if he plays a healthy 2013, if he will hold out again?

With seemingly only one team looking to make the trade, I'm surprised the Bucs even gave up the first rounder.

As a Jets fan, sad to see him go, but I understand it with a rebuilding team. Hoping they get a guard and a lb on Thursday night. Although Tavon Austin is intriguing for a team lacking any play makers.

It was the right move. Jets are rebuilding. revis is a great player but very selfish. all he cared about is the money. Considering he was out all year it was good that we got a decent 1st round pivk. i would have liked to get 3 picks but at least next year could turn into a 3rd

Yeah, but aren't you guys actually trying to compete this year? I don't understand trading Revis with the giant cap hit if this season is not a throw-away season.

I don't see how they are competitive with the roster they have with or without Revis. Think this year is 100% a throw away. Think with the schedule they are looking at 2-7 heading into the bye.
