Given Nuge's injury, we should make a big push for Weiss. I'm sure we won't get him, but it'd give us some options next year if we somehow did get him

Hope it goes as well as it did for Hemsky and Hall. The knife is always the last resort.

This.

/Hall at center. Why would we ever want to ruin what he's doing this season?

Hall came back looking great after his surgery. Maybe, at least for RNH, missing the playoffs is a good thing.

Can anybody bring up any other teams botched medicals for players? This team has like 3 or 4 now and I don't think you should have more than one.

If you're giving Oilers management any benefit of the doubt at this point, you're more stupid than Kevin Lowe. Bush league would be a huge upgrade.

Hall, Eberle, and Yakupov at center

X-Hall-X
X-Eberle-X
X-Yakupov-X
X-Horcoff-X

and personally I wouldn't minding see J.Schultz on Eberle's wing.

If he wants a shot at the playoffs next year he might need to entertain the possibility to start next season.

Heck we should just convert everyone to center. Ice a lineup of centers! Clog up the middle of the ice! Teams do that, right?

The fact that we are even thinking of talking about hall having to player center because of this shows pure lunacy of our front office and coaching staff.

You think they didn't check it out? Wow... It's pretty obvious he wanted to play through it since it has been bothering him since Junior. Jesus Christ!

If it's for 5-10 games it really isn't the end of the world. Chicago had Kane playing C at one point, does that make them a bunch of dumbards?

I sure hope we lose the next couple games and can draft Barkov. Still need to bring in another center, but Gagner/Horcoff/Barkov/decent 4th line center would be OK for a short period of time.

Too bad RNH doesn't get 2-3 months to try to gain some weight, but if he recovers well and his shoulder is healthy he should be quite a bit better next season anyway.

I wanted to see all these kids as soon as I could. Now we've got to see 2 of them suffer. Where would their development be if they didn't need so much downtime to recover? But let's draft another one and screw him up too.

So this is how we treat our 'franchise centre'? Good lord. Should've been done a LONG time ago. How was he supposed to play hard/good in the playoffs, if the team even made it? Did that even occur to them? Unreal...

It would be lunacy not to consider all the options available and then to weigh those options imo. Stauffer suggests that the Oilers have another hole to fill with a trade. Perhaps. But, at the least, moving Hall to centre for a few games gives them some added versatility with Hall later on. It's not going to destroy his game to learn to play centre. What's better? Giving up a bunch of assets to fill a No. 1 centre position temporarily? Overpaying a UFA? Bringing in a lesser player to temporarily fill that important spot? Hall tried it out and fared well at it before. I'm not sure why this is the worst idea ever. It may not be the right decision, but it should be weighed amongst other options.

If this team had any depth at all, they could do like most other teams would and claim a guy like Mike Santorelli off waivers to be a stopgap for a month.

Taylor Hall has arguable had a higher development curve than Tavares. JT has been been mentioned among the MVPs of the league this year. Tell me again how Halls development has been stunted...

Exactly!

I still can't believe we didn't even try a waiver wire pickup through our center injuries. They have mismanaged the 50 limit and been way too afraid to expose marginal players to waivers to compensate.

Maroon, for instance, was exactly the type of reclamation project this team should be interested in.

Several experienced centers hit waivers while we auditioned VV or rolled out Smyth.

But , thankfully we have players like Abney taking up roster spots

And now the guy with Lowe in his name wants to argue. Eberle gets tag teamed by every team we play, hall is left alone to skate in as he pleases and that makes him better than Tavares? I'm not knocking Hall, and I expect him to be Hall. Not Messier, Iginla, or whoever else. He was terrible last year due to injury. Still played hurt while we get Yakupov. He's been fantastic. He would have been better. We have been sending lightweights to battle heavyweights with the supporting cast only capable of drafting first overall draft picks. And why burn up the ELC when we could have a better healthier player when games actually matter?
