Definitely want no part of the Rangers in the 1st round. I remember being pissed last year when Khudobin played great to beat the Sens, didn't want Washington either. I think New York would be an even worse matchup...Lundqvist owns the B's.

one thing seems probable; the Bruins will be playing a team most of us have not seen them in a series with before--or at least not in a very long time.

HUGE win for the Islanders.

Killshot for the Flyers.

Ideally, I take Toronto. We have their number and their goaltending is very iffy. Great offense, but I'm confident our defense and goaltending would win in that duel. Our forwards vs. their defense and goalies, I'm very confident in that matchup as well. I'm fine with any of the 3 most probable, but I'm not sure I want the Islanders, I think they'll surprise a lot of people. Still, we would be the heavy favorite in that series and for a good reason, we should be able to beat them. We've also always played good against Ottawa, Tim Thomas or not, I'm fine with them even if they're healthy.

I don't care if we play the Rangers, I think they're very beatable, I'm just worried about ****ing Lundqvist. No thank you. I had my experience with a goaltender dominating an absolute series, and it was a good one. I plan for that to be my only one. I think its far fetched that we face the Jets, but they've played good against us. Obviously we should be able to beat them if we do, but Pavelec has always played terrific against us, and their crowd is definitely the 7th man.

Agreed on most points.

I'd take my chances with the Islanders in a heartbeat over a Sens team that will get Karlsson back + maybe Spezza?

From a quick look at the injury thread on the Sens board, looks like he's started working out. He was in the team picture, but no news on if he's skating in practice or not. Definitely not cleared for contact. Some quote says "Not given up hope on Spezza, could have all players for playoffs," or something along those lines. Looks like it's a long shot, but it could happen. If anything, looks like they'd be rushing him back.

Dammit.

Looking like Rangers or Sens. Blah.

Would be much better off with Leafs in rd. 1

West is going to be very fun too

San Jose/LA
Vancouver/St. Louis
Minny/Anaheim should be a good series but it won't have the hatred of the first two I mentioned.

Bruins have pretty good luck agains the Sens, even with all their top guys in the lineup.

The Bruins are a better team than the Rangers and have play better than them all season long, it would be a tough series but they can beat them too.

There's also a possibility that we end seeing the Leafs in the playoffs too. 5-8 are pretty tights right now.

Vancouver, if they get this match-up, would not be healthy by the end of the series.

Sobotka and Backes would be the most hated men in Vancouver by the end of the series.

Main thing is win that division and get home ice and it also ensures avoiding Pens in rd 2 should both teams advance. No bearing on yer post above what I am saying but that Van vs St L series would be a dandy,They hate each other now .

Judging by the last time they met last week...SOB and Backes are already pretty close

I would love it though, a pissed off Backes is a pleasure to watch.

Hawks/Wings would be fun to watch from the West and I'm looking forward to a possible Pens/Rangers series too. The only team that I can see Pitt struggling against in the first round, hopefully the Rags give em hell.

It'd be the last one unless/until they met in the finals. Weird.

Despite this Bruins team not playing that great lately, I believe that they can beat any team in the east except for maybe Pittsburgh. I maintain that if they were to meet up with Montreal in round 2 or 3 it would be another classic 7 game series with the B's coming out on top.
As for potential 1st round opponents I see it going as follows:
New York Islanders: Bruins win series 4-0
New York Rangers: Bruins win series 4-2
Toronto Maple Leafs: Bruins win series 4-0
Ottawa Senators: Bruins win series 4-2

As of tonight, here are the approximate odds of each team finishing at the specific seeds in the Eastern Conference:

(1) Penguins = 100%
(2) Bruins = 64% Canadiens = 36%
(3) Capitals = 89% Jets = 11%
(4) Canadiens = 53% Bruins = 33% Maple Leafs = 14%
(5) Maple Leafs = 63% Canadiens = 11% Senators = 10% Islanders = 8% Rangers = 5% Bruins = 3%
(6) Senators = 30% Islanders = 28% Rangers = 26% Maple Leafs = 16%
(7) Islanders = 33% Rangers = 31% Senators = 26% Maple Leafs = 5% Jets = 3% Capitals = 2%
(8) Rangers = 32% Senators = 28% Islanders = 27% Jets = 9% Capitals = 2% Maple Leafs = 2%

Obviously, the 6-8 seeds could still be quite volatile.

One interesting thing to note is how ridiculous of an advantage we have on faceoffs over other teams, but specifically Eastern playoff teams. The only two other Eastern playoff teams in the top half of the league for faceoffs are the Penguins (8th, 51%) and the Capitals (14th, 50.3%) compared to us (1st, 56.4%)

The team that scared me the least in the top 8 is the Sens.. hope they play them, followed by the leafs. Will make the regular season games more fun.

I would like to play the Sens the most as well, not because I think we would have the best chance against them (I think that would go to the Leafs or Islanders) but because I think it would be a great series. It would be nice to finally ignite a rivalry between the two teams as well.

I would just have a bad feeling about playing the Rangers, almost the exact feeling I had going into last year playing the Capitals.

When they get EK back, they're going to be a really tough out.

Anyway we're getting the Rangers or Islanders. Bet on that.
