Kovalchuk plays on the PK and that's not because DeBoer doesn't know his players. Leaders are supposed to play in all situation at this level anyway, especially on the team Latvia

Well kovalchuk is not pure finesse player, now is he? Bukarts is and you dont put that kind of players on PK.

Wow, that is weird. I went to the main IIHF-site, which also has game results to current tournaments on the side. It said Germany had a 6-3 lead over Slovakia. I then clicked on the link to the tournament website, and that one said that it was still 5-3, just like the live ticker, which also had just a 5-3 lead. One or two minutes later, both changed to 6-3.

Seems odd that the main site would be more up to date than the actual live ticker for the game or even the tournament site.

Oh well, I don't mind, as long as the result works out

It didn't sound like that to me but well, we're all writing and reading in foreign language so sometimes these kinds of things can happen

Yes, that's exactly who he is. You should know better since Kovy had been bashed for years because of it. The only reason he's on the Devils PK is his superb skating ability and speed, something he and Bukarts share to some extent.

Btw, in some other context I would have thought that your, in this case rhetorical, question is a sarcastic joke or smth.

Missed the first period, how did our guys look like in the first, who stood out? Egle and Bukarts probably?

Egle scored, was pretty good, but mostly from our offence as usual Golovkovs and Bukarts made some flashy plays.

Bukarts plays a lot of time (and indeed if you play for team Latvia as a leader you're expected to put up big minutes because others are not that good- when Girgensons was on U20 team he also played a lot, of course maybe his production suffered from that but they're here to contribute to the team, not to their stats).

Don't see why Bukarts should not play on PK. Sure he might not be defensively that good as some other guys but then again he has speed and quick hands and good upper body strenth for his size, so not only he can help to stop Russian attacks but also maybe organize counter attack.

Golovkovs has really progressed in the last couple of months playing in MHL. He was probably one of the few players genuinly good in the disasterous 3 game play-off failure for HK Riga and in the loss of Juniors in Latvian league final. I say if he doesn't want to stay in Riga, he'll get offers from CHL leagues and can be successful there.

Bukarts on the other hand is shaky nowadays. But at least playing well here though.

I`d wager both of `em get drafted in CHL and both move to NA.

Desperate? Why? Tomorrow is absolutely irrelevant when it comes to the final standings in the group. Czechs cant go higher than 4th...and even if they could itīs not like a big prize is to be won by finishing 3rd. Itīs probably still gonna be SWE or CAN or rather

Tkachev - another great game. Tolchinsky is great, but unlucky, Nichushkin - very bad.

He has contract with Dinamo Riga until 2015. MHL is on par with CHL, so why to move?
