I understand how that's crippling but in an active effort of his play right now, to bring that into the equation is a mistake logistically. I wouldn't try to take that type of trauma away from someone who undoubtedly has a soft side. If we were to start factoring that in, then we would have to be consistent with that logic (i.e. Pyatt is a damaged player, Pyatt's slump is due to the emotional trauma recurring, Pyatt's success reflects his improvement of mentality and emotional stability).

You can comment on the overall style of his game that might have CHANGED before and after the incident but as a whole, his game now should be considered isolated from his past.

IIRC Pyzee had a great playoffs for Phoenix last year. He could very well play a huge role come playoffs time. It might be wishful thinking, but its not unheard of for guys to step up in the playoffs as opposed to the season. Clowe comes to mind as another.

Hopefully he gains confidence from that wrister and he contributes in the playoffs.

5 goals on the season, more than anyone in our bottom 6 sans Brassard. Cheap cap hit, but doesn't bring much of anything to the game. Willing to give him another chance with a full training camp to be our 4LW.

If we resign Clowe then Pyatt is most likely dealt this offseason due to cap reasons. Boyle/Asham/Powe are also in that category. Not all of them, but perhaps 2 guys altogether. Not saying we should resign Clowe either - as his demands seem to be outrageous and well yeah, you know the rest.

Still want him gone. It's a joke that Kreider gets 4th line minutes but they move him up. I feel horrible about his fiancée dying and everything, but he's literally done **** since the 1st week or so of the season.

Time to go.

And yet people say Kreider has done nothing to deserve Top 9 minutes. The same thing could be said about Pyatt except Kreider's recent AHL production and skating abilities alone should make him more deserving of playing in our Top 9.

That said, looking at his stats from previous seasons he has produced pretty well. I still think the guy is a good 3rd liner.

Somebody needs to play at the #9 forward spot.

The legend of Chris Kreider supersedes his actual play for a lot of fans around here. This year was a disaster for his development, and most of it was his fault. A top 9 forward spot has been out there for the taking all season, and he just hasnt played well enough to grab it.

In my opinion, the best thing for Kreider right now is to shut him down as soon as the Rangers get a little healthier and give him a fresh start next season.

If you ask me, what it comes down to is how badly do you want Kreider at the NHL level, is he clearly dominant in Hartford and the fact that you don't want to stunt his development. Keep Kreider in the top-9 and move Pyatt to the 4th.

Kreider has not been "clearly dominant" in Hartford.

Kreider is playing right now because they obviously see him as the teams best option so why in the world would he get shut down? If Dorsett and/or Boyle get back then Kreider sits but he will be the first option to come back in.

The seasons not over. Just like Pyatt can turn it around still so can Kreider. Just depends on the chances they get

So Kreider is the #1 option when 2 other guys are injured. What a glowing endorsement.

"Clearly dominant in the AHL"

23 pts in 48 games, 0.47 PPG.

His PPG is on line with similar aged prospects like Luke Adam, Phil Varone and Magnus Paajarvi.

There is a reason why those 3, along with Kreider are borderline NHLers.

So are we on a path toward calling Kreider another 1st round pick by Sather that turns into a waste?

I hope not

Im not there yet. Although I am a bit worried when prospects come up and look like dumb hockey players.

I think part of it is being confused about his role, which is understandable. But, like I said, I think an even bigger part is a player who got by on physical attributes is experiencing a rude awakening at the AHL/NHL levels.

If he somehow gains hockey IQ over the summer, probably not.

I'm not going to say that his play has improved because that implies that its ok to criticize a player with such beautiful eyes, and it isn't.

I thought Kreider was doing fairly well in the AHL, and I also thought that he deserved the benefit of the doubt for a little while yet.

Edit: Oops, forgot this was a Pyatt thread (hard to believe that a Pyatt thread exists, to be honest).

Zucc makes Pyatt shine like a new penny, lets hope it lasts.

Richards looks better too, that line has great chemistry.

I want to root for this guy, so so bad. Really. But, he's also behind Del zotto, Girardi, McD and Marc "only played 21 games" Staal in scoring.

Thats....that's not too good.
