It's going to be Cherry... My industry insider connections also tell me as part of the deal he is getting Glen Beck's old time slot on the news channel.

Not a chance. I can just see the cluster **** on U S tv when Cherry preaches to U S viewers, you need more Canadians on your team.

McGuire makes sense. I'm sure it would be an upgrade from being stuck between the benches on NBC.

i should add, he said "someone who covers hockey on a full time basis that everyone listening would know"

so i doubt it's tappen. It's someone big. I also doubt it's marek because if he was talking to fox about it he wouldnt be allowed to talk about it.

why? Fox already has NFL commentators coming out of their ass. NFL games on FS-1 will just be the existing NFL on Fox team.

I can't see him jumping to any network who doesn't actually have rights to broadcast the games. Fox does have some regional rights but it would be a step down from the national coverage he has now.

Maybe Ray Ferraro? Isn't he married to Cammi Granato? Maybe she wants to go back to the States.

Don Cherry might go if they also gave him a TV show on Fox News.

I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but Kyperos? He's been breaking out over the last few years, and I could see him ringing the bell.
Kypreos recently signed a long term deal with the Fan 590/ Sportsnet as did Doug MacLean.

Melrose. He has to be sick of ESPN finishing up their 45 min. NBA rant, just to have 2 mins. to discuss the NHL playoffs.

McGuire was given a ten year deal when NBC renewed the rights (which also stole him from TSN). I don't think it will be anyone from a game coverage. Most likely an insider who can contribute to their news shows.

I would be so disappointed if Cuthbert ever left Canada. He's been one of the best play-by-play announcers in the country for over twenty-five years. One of the voices of Hockey Night in Canada in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, voice of the NHL on TSN since the lockout, CTV's primary Olympic hockey play-by-play man, and the voice of the CFL for the past decade.

Jim Hughson? He could do US work in addition to HNIC pretty easily. Also has experience calling MLB games.

I'm thinking Elliot Friedman from HNIC.

With the real possibility that CBC will lose the NHL rights soon and TSN has locked up the CFL with a new deal. CBC Sports would be reduced to the Winter Olympics and World Cup for 2014 but after that all they have is the Summer 2016 Games.

With the talent at TSN and Sportsnet likely not going on anywhere he would be smart to join FS1 and work his way up. Who knows where he could be in 5 years as part of the Fox Sports family.
