I think Krueger seems like a great guy, but he has no idea how to be an NHL coach. His "sit back and wait for the opposing team to make mistakes" approach is not a viable option for this team. Either he changes or he needs to be replaced.

If he was coach, the Oilers would ROCK!

Krueger seems to be a nice guy but he is an awful NHL coach. Please can this guy soon. Another fail Tambellini hire.

One of the most terrible coaches I have ever seen. From his decisions during the game to his delusional post game comments. Just....terrible

I agree with a lot of people here. Good guy, bad coach.

Lindy Ruff FTW.

I think it's obvious that they need a hard ass.

I kind of think that MacT will unfortuately keep Krueger around, but on a short leash. I really want to see Lindy Ruff rattle a few cages.

There should be no question in anyone's mind that Krueger needs to be fired. Not even MacT. I want to see some crying like Kane after Savard.

Knowing the Oilers, they'll wait too long to figure out the blatantly obvious and Ruff will be hired elsewhere within the West (Minnesota..).

Sad but true.

Craig Mactavish fires Krueger and assumes the head coaching role himself.

I take credit for this prediction. I think I made it in the initial MacT thread.

I was on board with the Krueger hire when it happened, mostly because he was saying the right things, and the praise that came from both his peers and players.
But some of his coaching decisions and subsequent rationale are baffling to say the least. If management is still high on him, I wonder if there's a scenario where he can step aside back into an associate role (like Tony Granato did a few years back in Colorado), and we can hire an experienced NHL coach.

Is your avatar that guy from House of Lies, kinda fitting if it is. But Couch Malph reminds of the leader at Band Camp or the leader of the volunteers at the Heritage Festival. He has all these crazy ideas that only a Scout leader can appreciate.

My avatar (and username) are homage to his character in Parks and Recreation, but yeah, he's also in House of Lies.

Some of you say Kruger seems like a nice guy, but you know who else is a nice guy?

I would be pretty surprised if this happens, i mean Ruff seems to be the obvious choice and MacT was just named GM
In this scenario (which i think is pretty unlikely) the guy with 6 stanly cup rings becomes GM again right?
GREAT

This is absolutely crazy. How can they even contemplate keeping Kreuger? There is no other team in the NHL with this level of quit...AGAIN!!!! The freakin Flames are making us look like the bad news bears.

This quote from an NHL scout in a Zona article put it all into perspective for me. "I'm not going to give away the store here, but there are no other teams in the league playing the [Edmonton] system"

Ruff coached the Sabres to 8 playoff years and 6 misses. Most of that success was early when Hasek was in his prime.

He made it to the 3rd round twice post Hasek- with the Briere and Drury (small players) led teams.

He's from Edmonton. He's an obvious choice and Krueger had his chance in my mind. It's time for the team to grow up. Ruff is an established NHL bench boss. He's 53 years old - which is the exact same age as Ralph.

It seems really silly not to give Ruff a shot with a three year deal this summer. Make a statement to the team and bring in a Jack Adams winner while you have the chance.

Florida, Tampa, Dallas, Philly and other teams are probably circling right now too.

I'm getting real tired of Krueger's sunshine, lollipops and "negatives are a good thing!" mentality.
