I'm stuck at work, so i'm missing the game, but it seems like Pettibone is pitching fairly well through his first four innings.

His stat line is good, but he's leaving balls up and out over the plate a bit too much. Some hard hit balls and some balls that just aren't carrying in the weather. I expected him to be more of a sinker baller who got a fair share of ground ball outs. Small sample size though.

Jesse Biddle would have been a good spot starter. Perfect through 6 innings. Finished 7 innings, 1 hit, 2 walks, and 16 strikeouts!!!

Awesome start for him but we don't need to interrupt his development. Adam Morgan has been good in his starts in LV and hopefully they bring him up after this spot start by Pettibone. Kid pitched good but he only basically has two pitches right now.

I wasn't serious about calling up Biddle...yet.

Morgan is slated to pitch tonight for LV, was really hoping they would call him up as he has looked very good so far but perhaps they don't want to start the clock yet.

I watched the reading game last night and Biddle was outstanding, his curve was unhittable, after 6 innings he struck out the side 3 times and was perfect going into the 7th. Going to be interesting to see how the phils handle Biddle next year.

I know it's early but if he keeps improving he'll be in triple A sometime next season IMO. I really hope they don't rush him though

The Biddle outing is exciting. Not saying he'll be another Hamels, but the future certainly looks bright!

In hindsight but you go on contact and if that ball is hit anywhere else in the infield he scores. But I'm no expert

Edit: seems like one of those night where the phillies simply don't hit, so frustrating

Utley has sat two games this season, Phillies have scored 0 runs in both. Ugh.

I think we said last yr that the difference between utley in the lineup and out was about 1 run per game. I know everybody loves him in Philly but I still don't think he gets enough credit for what he brings to a lineup.

Shame to waste such an awesome outing by hamels

Utley is one of those rare players who is loved by casual fans and statisticians alike. I understand the need to rest him, but without him, this lineup is complete garbage. A lot of it is the lack of working the count. Free swingers everywhere in this lineup.

I've seen people get mad and say that people don't criticize Utley when he doesn't hit like fans criticize Howard. I like Howard, but when Chase gets an out it's so much different than when Howard gets one. Last night, I remember one at bat where Chase worked a full count and was called out on a tough pitch. Howard comes up and swings at three straight breaking balls. Howard is what most of the lineup does though. Swing away no matter what the situation. The lineup is severely lacking in Chase Utleys. Ruiz will help that a bit, but it's difficult to win when everyone's hacking away at everything they see.

Edit: And then Chase has a crappy at bat. I'm just not going to say anything anymore cause these guys keep making me look like an idiot.
