The Blue Jackets have been one of the hottest teams in the league last 10-20 games.

BJs trade their captain Nash, BJ play better without him, Rangers struggle with him.
Stars traded away their captain, they play much better.
Flames traded away their captain, they play maybe the best hokcey of the season.

Go figure!

Many posters criticize Franzen, Filppula, Kronwall .... but as our team struggles lately I do not see production from Z and D.

After watching both in the shootout in Vancouver carefully, watching their body language as they skated in, we'll they both look tired to me, not making excuses it's what I see. They are not in their mid 20s and they have been played a lot lately and they have been competing hard....

Except make the playoffs

Detroit has to win in regulation against Phoenix tonight. Then they'll have to win 2 games out of the last three. I don't think I can handle a final game decider with the Stars.

If Columbus wins their final two games then winning 3/4 isn't gonna do it, we'd still be sitting a point back in 9th. They play Nashville and Dallas. At this rate they aren't losing to Nashville so lets hope Dallas pulls through.

If we can't beat Phoenix AND Nashville we don't deserve to make the playoffs. That leaves LA and Dallas.

If LA beats Minny on Tuesday, and SJ loses to Dallas then LA will be locked in at 4th place by the time we play them Wednesday....hopefully that means they sit Quick (which would be likely considering it's also a back-to-back scenario for them). I think that's probably the best case scenario.

Datsyuk was all over the ice Saturday.

He didn't score, but it was his pickpocket and forecheck that led to our goal.

He set up Franzen 2 or 3 times.

He had the puck on the half boards, attracting two Canucks, including the one who was supposed to be watching Justin Abdelkader, and then he passed to Abs, who skated in all alone from the wall and shot a wrister into Schneider's chest.

No offense, but coach Babcock is a dolt and he is responsible for the no-offense 03 Duck hockey we're seeing.

Is there a chance the Wings and BJs make it, but not the Wild?

Did Z and D give you enough production yesterday ? Jeez. Wait until we don't have these guys, what will you think then ?

I don't buy it, especially since Datsyuk has had about a dozen glorious chances in the offensive zone that he hasn't buried. Call it snake bit, or blame some unknown injury, but Datsyuk isn't finding the scoresheet lately and it's been an issue.

They would have to lay an egg against Edmonton and Colorado. I think Minnesota just needs to show up to the rink to get 3-4 points there.

Colorado and Edmonton suck against Minnesota. Historically.

Wild vs Avalanche, here's the Wild's record :

YEAR: W-L-T Win % GFPG GAPG
2012: 3-3-0 50.0 2.5 1.3
2011: 2-4-0 33.3 3.2 3.3
2010: 1-5-0 16.7 1.8 2.7

The real telling stat is that Minnesota is 3-6-1 in their last 10 games, so either they wake up like Detroit did yesterday or they fade away, fast.

Hoping for an LA & SJ win tonight. If Dallas loses tonight we can cheer for them on Thursday night when the play CBJ. If LA wins it means we could potentially finish 7th and get away from the Hawks.

Best case scenario going forward is us getting a minimum of 3 points in our next 2 games giving us 53 points. If Dallas loses tonight they'll have a max of 52 points, they can't catch us, and if CBJ loses to the Stars they have a max of 53 but we have the first tie breaker. We can then give Jimmy the break on Saturday.

Guess Sacco is better than I thought..

But anyway, Bäckström's stats against Avs for his career.

31 gp, 23W, 5l, 3 otl.

This year Wild are 3-0-1 against Avs.

Scoresheet? He's not even finding the goalie lately with this shots. There are some that are lucky to find the glass. He's making things happen in other ways, he's still a puck hound, he still sucks the defense to him, but his shots have been Sammy-esque.

Helm wasn't with the team on the last road trip, probably a sign he's not very close.

Bert on the other hand I had the impression is just game shape away. I wouldn't expect much if he returns, but I'd surely take him into the lineup over Miller and Eaves.
