I have been looking at all time leafs stats this morning and found something very interesting...

Did you know that James Reimer is second for all time Leaf goalies in SV%? He has a better SV% than Curtis Joseph, Felix Potvin, Ed Belfour, ect. The guy ahead of him is Daren Puppa who played a total of 8 games for the Leafs.

Awesome.

We've got a keeper in Reimer.

Yeah, but Reimer plays in an era where less goals are scored due to the butterfly tending and the bigger equipment. Still think we have a VERY good goalie for the first time in years

Nah. He doesn't have experience.

I think we need a 34 year old goalie on a massive contract.

Goals were down in the seaons that Belfour played for the Leafs too. That was the "clutch and grab era"

Reimer has been very good from day one for us, he took some time to re-gain his form after injuries but that's to be expected.

I still laugh thinking about how many posters actually believed Gustavsson was better than him!

Gustavsson had great potential, he just lost the mental ability to play at an NHL level. Hes had a rough go, I hope he can re-build his career somewhere.

Wow, thanks for posting. Reimer's a keeper, glad we didn't give up on him after that rough rookie season. Impressive stat for sure.

I hear Luongos available. Lets deal Kadri, Bozak and a 2nd for him. Our goalies suck

2 of the top 3? Lol. That's kind of an embarrassing list though. Only 3 times 920 or better? Only once before 2010-2011.. How long does it go back? I looked it up earlier and saw Plante had 942 one year but different era.

Regardless, an incredible year. Ill be the first to admit, gladly, I was wrong about Reimer.

.920 was very very rare up until a few years ago.

belfour's seasons on that list were top 3 in those years, while cujo's and potvins were at least top 10s, and some were top 5s.

A sv% over .900 was pretty much unheard of before the 90s. Take a look at the sv %'s of Grant Fuhr or Patrick Roy in the 80s, both of whom are hall of fame goalies

I thought there'd be a few during the dead pick era. I kinda forget what stats looked like then lol

Regardless, he's had one hell of a year. I hope he gets a couple shutouts this week, you never know. We do face some weak teams. Be awesome if he could even get it a few points higher

Remier's save percentage is merely sitting at 6th in the NHL...

K but he seriously needs to work on his rebound control.

Floaters into the glove should never, ever, ever be fumbled.

If he can clean that up, he'll be one of the best in the league IMO.

Reimer is using smaller equipment than Cujo Belfour or Potvin.
Pads were 12" wide then and are only 11" now, gloves are smaller, elbow and shoulder floaters are smaller, flat faced pants are banned.
If anything I think it is all the more impressive because he is not playing during the clutch and grab era, but in an era where the NHL has actively changed rules to increase scoring.

Short Rask and Reimer haha.

Honestly, I still don't believe to this day we would be seeing Reimer had either Gus or Giggy not been hurt. I think from their struggles we would've been looking for a goaltender outside Toronto and probably would've wound up with Luongo.

Reimer is so underrated by Bruins fans, it's great

#1 quote "How many freakin' chances do you need to beat a goalie like Reimer?"

theres many more gems like this too. awesome.

#2 quote in reply to some one saying that Reimer stole the game "I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree more. I'm not saying he didn't play well, he did, it shouldnt have been a blow out, but Boston has done this game all year. Make bad goalies look great (Peters, Ellis, Mason, etc). It comes down to they have 0 motivation throughout the start of the game and then decide to turn it on when it is way too late. No killer instinct to the team is a recipe for disaster because that's how they score typically."

#3 "Reimer stays square to the shooter, and this high school goalie outplays Tuukka once more."

#4 "No one considers Reimer to be in Rask's class, Bruins just continue to miss open nets."

#5 "Reimer just had the luckiest game of his career"

#6 "I seriously doubt Reimer plays this well the next 2 games too."

#7 I'm sorry but in no way is Reimer a good goalie. Boston is doing this all to themselves. Theres no Reimer stealing the game or any of that, you have to bury one against this guy.
