2013 NHL Draft Part 3 (Flyers own the 11th overall pick)

Mod edit: April 28, 2013

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=668044

Quote:
The 2013 Scotiabank NHL Draft Lottery, a weighted system to determine the order of selection for the first 14 picks of the 2013 NHL Draft, will take place Monday, April 29, at 8 p.m., ET.

The League, in cooperation with TSN, will announce the results of the Draft Lottery live during a 30-minute program produced and televised by TSN in Canada. The special presentation also will air in the U.S. on NBC Sports Network and will re-air on NHL Network U.S. at 9 p.m., ET.

The 2013 Scotiabank NHL Draft Lottery will be the first in NHL history in which all 14 clubs not qualifying for the Stanley Cup® Playoffs -- or the clubs that have acquired the first-round drafting positions of those non-playoff teams -- will have a chance at winning the right to the first overall selection.

The odds of winning the lottery are unchanged from previous years and determined by the teams' regular-season point totals. The lottery-winning team will draft first overall, with the remaining 13 teams slotted in reverse order of their regular-season point totals. In previous years, the winning team could move up no more than four slots in the draft order.

Based on team finish, the percentage chance of being selected in the Draft Lottery is:

Florida Panthers 25.0%
Colorado Avalanche 18.8%
Tampa Bay Lightning 14.2%
Nashville Predators 10.7%
Carolina Hurricanes 8.1%
Calgary Flames 6.2%
Edmonton Oilers 4.7%
Buffalo Sabres 3.6%
New Jersey Devils 2.7%
Dallas Stars 2.1%
Philadelphia Flyers 1.5%
Phoenix Coyotes 1.1%
Winnipeg Jets 0.8%
Columbus Blue Jackets 0.5%

2013 NHL Draft

The 2013 NHL Draft will be held Sunday, June 30th, with all seven rounds being conducted on the same day for the first time since 2006. As previously announced, the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center will host the event, the first NHL Draft ever held in the New York City metropolitan area.

The draft gets underway at 3 p.m. ET as James Duthie hosts live coverage in Canada on TSN direct from the draft floor along with TSN's panel of experts. RDS will present exclusive French-language coverage throughout Canada. In the U.S., NBC Sports Network presents live coverage starting at 3 p.m. ET, while NHL Network in the U.S. continues live late-round coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET.

We just really need to finish 6th overall

6th-6.2
7th-4.7
8th-3.6

Those are the odds. Not only does finishing 6th give us a slightly better chance at #1, but it also gives us a chance at nurse without giving up assets.

Could you imagine the outrage on these boards if we won the lottery?

I guess the flyers will kidnap sidney crosby and tell the NHL that they won't return him untill the Flyer have the First Overall and select Seth Jones

Yes, that would be ideal. Either win the lottery or be bad enough to be at #6 overall.

The hated Flyers will become even more hated.

I wonder what popular opinion says which professional sports team is the most hated in all of sports. I imagine the Flyers have got to be near the top.

I think people would be more outraged at that than if the Flyers actually won the Cup.

If the Flyers finish 6th overall, they are probably taking a forward. If Monahan or Barkov is there even with Nurse, I think one of those centers will be the pick.

That is my thinking as well, I think it comes down to BPA. I don't think it matters if it's another Center.

I also don't understand the author's shot at us trading for Lindros. There's no guarantee we would have won a cup with Forsberg.

I am okay with that as well. If we take a guy like Barkov, Couts becomes a blue chip trading piece. I know him alone won't get you a stud dman, but we can try and package him to get one. If Homer doesn't like what he sees, he keeps all of the young centers and plays musical chairs with them at center. Barkov could play some wing also I think. He has the game to play winger more than Couts.

Tonight, if we lose and Calgary wins, we take the 7th spot. Edmonton would have to get at least 3 points to pass us if we lose the next couple to move down to 6th.

I think the Al Davis factor contributes a lot to the Raiders hate. And their fans have had kind of a bad reputation.

And I think the Lindros shot has more to do with the ongoing soap opera we went through than the fact that we didn't win a Cup.

That's asking a lot of Edmonton who play:

Chicago
@Minnesota
Vancouver

I take satisfaction in knowing that Taylor Hall is the only player turning into dynamic player at this point out of all their high picks.

Edmonton probably takes Nurse at 6. Regardless, the Flyers definitely want to be in the top 7: Mackinnon, Jones, Drouin, Barkov, Nurse, Monahan, and Nichuskin. I am not sold on Lindholm that high anymore as some have questioned whether his offense would transfer. If the Flyers are stuck at 8, I would put Ristolainen next. IMO, after Jones, Ristolainen might be the best defender the Flyers could take; he doesn't require the developmental patience, something traditionally the Flyers don't have, that Zadorov and to a much lesser extent, Nurse, would require. He's also a right handed shot.

When you put it like that, it is kinda satifying.

How many Top 10 picks does it take, so you can atleast make the playoffs, seriously...

Pathetic organization.

They're still pretty young but they have talent on that team to at least be a boarder line playoff team. They don't really have any veterans on that team that come from a winning pedigree. If they brought in some older guys with successful backgrounds it would do wonders for the younger guys in that locker room.

The whole organization is a mess. They were playing RHN all year with a messed up shoulder on top it.

If the Oilers get #1 overall again I can just picture him, where ever he is smiling about it.

The Flyers deserve a #1 overall more than the Oilers. We haven't had any ever and the one time we were supposed to, Chicago screws us over.
Actually, Chicago bent us over twice with Kane scoring the winner in that fateful game.
