We have to remember Dougie has played more hockey than anyone else on this team this year. This being the longest I think he has ever played, it stands to reason he needs to rest a bit. He will be in for the playoffs no doubt in my mind

Dougie should be playing. Our team is no longer tough to play against. No one fears playing us anymore, and intimidation was a large part of our success. Lucic won't fight. Horton can't fight. Qauider can't win and needs to up the caloric intake. Thornton can't really throw with the heavies today. Campbell will go, but isn't scaring anyone. Chara will throw, but tosses a couple and falls over.

The team has a bunch of heart, but they are not playing "Bruins" hockey. They get out-physical'ed often. Not what we are used to, and not what they are used to. I honestly do not get it with Lucic. He is a shell of his former self.

Not sure how you're so confident he'll play.

I mean, CJ benches him against Pittsburgh, a PLAYOFF caliber team and then plays him against the Panthers, LAST PLACE team.

Now we play another physical team, mind out you of the playoffs, but he sits again.

I definitely think Hamilton should be in. He is sometimes shaky in his own zone and has teenage decision making sometimes but quite honestly for a team that seems to rely so much on getting in and sending the puck back to the Dman, Dougie is easily our most effective offensive option back there. I said on his goal the other night he has the best shot out of all our dmen including Chara. I say this because although Chara has a cannon, he uses it so terribly. I would love to see a stat by some sight that tracks slap shots attempted and the result %. Thats where Hamilton is shining imo. He uses his shot so well that often times it leads to something else. Only other guy that is ok is Ference for the most part.

Game 45: Bruins at Flyers preview
PHILADELPHIA – Good morning from the Wells Fargo Center, where the Bruins will start a four-game stretch over six days against the Flyers tonight.
Nathan Horton (upper body) will not play. Horton is back in Boston. Horton was injured during a fight with Jarome Iginla last Saturday.

For now, we’ll assume Anton Khudobin will start in goal. Khudobin backed up Tuukka Rask the last two games.

Healthy scratches: Aaron Johnson, Adam McQuaid, Matt Bartkowski, Kaspars Daugavins, Jay Pandolfo

Physical teams wear you down even more when your tired. I just think Claude wants Dougie to be rested and healthy for the playoffs, when it counts.

Hamilton has 12 PIMs in 41 games.

Bartkowski has 6 PIMs in 11 games.

It's starting to remind me of when people thought Caron was better than Seguin in their rookie years.

I am far less worried about Hamilton and Redden than any other D on this team, including Chara, Ference and Seidenberg.

If ur gonna sit dougie why not play redden?

Shouldn't Chara be getting a rest or some of the forwards?

I can't imagine any key players will get any rest until the standings have sorted themselves out.

One issue with Hamilton vs Bart is that for playoffs I suspect Seids is going to get shifted to Chara's right which means there is an extra right side d-man and it may be that Dougie will be the odd man out.

Also I think Bart is good at skating the puck out of the defensive zone but doesn't have the shot Dougie has.

Bart is also a little stronger on the puck right now (Dougie gets pushed off a lot and doesn't always take the body when he should-I think with more muscle and experience this will get better).

I am okay with the forward lines but still would like to see Yeti and Jagr with Krejci.

Should be a fun game for bruins fans tonight. Philly d injuries continue to pile up with kimmo out now. Flyers d will probably look like this tonight:

Lauridsen-Schenn
Gustaffson-Manning
Foster-Lilja/Konan

That's pretty much an AHL defense outside of Schenn (and maybe Gus as he's been playing really well)

Well, the Bruins offense has been pretty much AHL caliber, so it will probably be a 2-1 game.

The Bruins can make AHL caliber teams look like world beaters.

Flyers haven't had the luck with injuries this season.

Didn't Lauridson play in the last bruins flyers game? I seem to remember him doing some good things.

I didn't realize Timonen was out. What is his injury?

Yeah Lauridsen has been alright in limited ice time but he'll have to play a lot tonight, Gus and Schenn can't keep playing so many minutes especially with Kimmo out now.

Kimmo has a stress fracture in his foot. 4-5 weeks recovery time (not that it matters being as though the flyers aren't making the playoffs).

Not sure why all the hand wringing about Bart ... he's been terrific IMO. He doesn't have the upside of Dougie, but he's also got a lot more pro experience, plays a safer game, and probably even skates better and is more physical. Dougie's treatment is no different than Seguin's was. As someone else noted above Bart/Dougie is essentially Seguin/Caron redux.
