Apparently there is something wrong with saying you don't bang dudes. Go figure. 20 years ago it was the other way.

I honestly thought the term was coined by Andy Samberg / Lonely Island.

Fair enough- I missed that part. Organizations in general are way too involved in employees personal lives IMO. In this case, it's definitely not this guys fault.

I don't think the issue is with him being involved personally, the issue I have with Mr. Burke is how he went about it. It's akin to finding out HR wants to talk to you via a Company wide email.

Burke probably called out Seguin because people came to him, I don't think it's fair to say that he is a "snitch." Again, he didn't have to make a spectacle of it, but what do you expect YCP to do? Seems like they can't win. If YPC ignores the comments, it doesn't look good. If they call him out, they will be accused of over-reatcing. They picked the right poison, imo.

And the term "snitch" seems quite fashionable amongst the whippersnappers of today. "Stop snitchin'" can be interpreted in many different ways, just like 19's tweet.
That's true. Also I used the term "snitch" since I was just reading an article about prison setup back in the '70s. It was used a lot, I think it's become a part of my vocabulary now. Thanks for the info, I don't know all of the background context.

The world has become PC to the point of being vulgar. Nobody should care what a teenager says on twitter- I don't care if he plays pro Hockey.

To me (sorry if this offends others here) it is someone trying to get attention and say "look at me...look how good a person I am by pointing out what a P.O.S. this other person is in comparison." Wow, Patrick...I'm certain you are so perfect and never said anything stupid. It's obnoxious to call someone out like that in public over nothing. If you are offended by that, you are looking for things to be offended by. I know he wasn't really offended by it.

I believe that 100%.
This is how I looked at it.

Don't see the big issue here. "No homo", is just a slang term that some kids use today. He was not insulting or demeaning homosexuals. Although I personally think it sounds really stupid.

How anyone can get bent out of shape over his tweet is beyond me. I'm not a part of the anti-PC brigade or the PC brigade. Common sense is much needed here. He clearly meant nothing by his comment. I deal with a lot of people his age and this is just the way they talk. No need to spaz out and dissect harmless tweets. Geesh.

I guess i'm more curious as to how someone who genuinely is offended feels about this knowing damn well this was a forced apology.
I don't think you are giving Seguin enough credit. I believe he is sorry that he said something that offended some people and was sincerely apologizing.

Hope the league takes the time to sit down with Patrick Burke over a cup of coffee (Patrick can buy) and educate him on the proper way for someone in his "position" to handle a situation like this with the person involved instead of with the public at large.

What is far more embarrassing in this whole thing isn't the useage of the slang term "no homo", it how a league-affiliated organization has chosen to handle the situation thus far. Mickey Mouse, and an embarrassment to the National Hockey League that they would even "partner" with an amature-hour organization like You Can Play.

You just know Chia spoke to him and said:

"Be careful what you say in the media or social networks Tyler. That being said, remember I'm always behind you, no homo"

Jokes aside, wayyyy to sensitive.

God no. Had no one called him on it, that tweet would still be up. Is he "sorry"? Sure, in the sense that now he has to waste his time having a "talk"... But I'd be very surprised if he's not laughing about it with friends and younger team mates.

Good lord. No wonder Burke loses his temper sometimes.

I keep seeing it parroted that people are up in arms about this- who exactly? Because the most rage I see coming from any corner is from the "Oh my god, people are so sensitive; PC is killing America!!!" wailers.

Some people simply said this is a comment that could offend people, and as a public figure associated with a professional organization, Seguin should have been a bit more careful.
