McNeil and Danault have not played much in every game. Between 6 to 8 shift by game. Difficult to judge their performance in these circumstances. I'm not worried for them.

Smith with another 2 last night, which gives him 27 goals in 54 games. I have only seen Rockford a couple of times this year, but my recollection is that he is very solid on his skates and plays hard-nosed. I would still like to see him get a real shot.

too bad were not on a coast, the peoria could be the seamen instead of the rivermen. then there'd be so many prime jokes like "he got his start with the seamen"

Milwaukee up 1-0 after one. Looking bleak for the Hogs.

Peoria just needs 2 goals. It can get bleaker. Probably will. But the hockey gods will prevail.

Well, it looks like Rockford's going to miss the playoffs. But, at least this year, they actually had a shot and were in it until, literally, the final game of the season. It was a good season for the Hogs. With more consistency in the first half of the season, they would have gotten in.

Should be interesting to see what the Hawks do regarding callups. I'd expect Pirri, Morin, J.Hayes and Stanton to be recalled right away - as well as potentially Smith and Clendening.

I'm not sure how many 'black aces' the Hawks usually call up (I believe they had 11 a couple years ago), but I think they'll call up the following players to be 'black aces': Brandon Pirri, Jeremy Morin, Jimmy Hayes, Ben Smith, Mark McNeill, Phillip Danault, Ryan Stanton, Dylan Olsen, Klas Dahlbeck, Carter Hutton.

Agreed. I wish the Hogs would have started out a little better. They finished the year very well, and you can tell we have some prospects on that team that will be good NHL'ers in the near future. Hoping Pirri gets a shot tomorrow if that's possible and puts on a show. Would love for him to do great in his first game up and continue to so we can have a 2C going into the playoffs. Highly unlikely, but would be nice.

3-0 Milwaukee now.

I doubt Pirri gets in tomorrow, and as I said earlier, I'd be surprised if he got in at all.. but with Rockford's season almost (officially) over, there's the possibility of Pirri playing a game or two for Chicago now.

On the bright side, Pirri is now officially the AHL top scorer for the 2012-2013 season.

well done Mr. Pirri.

Hogs with their 1st Top Scorer in their history and it's not the known AHL Scorer St. Pierre

Pirri is the youngest AHL top scorer since Jason Spezza in 2004-2005, and he was already an established NHLer with 111 GP and was just playing in the AHL during the lockout. It is overwhelmingly won by AHL veteran scorers. So it's very impressive for him to win it. Congrats to him. He's definitely earned a look at that #2 Center spot.

Mac Carruth named CHL goaltender of the week.

He's backstopped his team to a 2-0 series lead in the 3rd round of the WHL playoffs, only allowing 1 goal in total, making 59 saves, and being named the #1 star in both games.

That link also says he was his conference's nominee for WHL Goalie of the Year, which hasn't yet been awarded.

Carruth stats on year

30-7-2 with 2.06 GAA and .929 Sv Pct (10-2 with 1.53 GAA and .938 Sv Pct in playoffs)

Simpson also after bad start finished strong in ECHL

Simpson/Carruth have potential not sure why people hate the Hawks depth in goal prospect wise

Whitney also has good potential

The Rockford Icehogs need to rid themselves of Hutton and Karlsson and develop young goaltending prospects.

The Rockford Icehogs need to get into the habit of making the playoffs. If Simpson or Carruth are the best options, then they're the best options. That's not likely to be the case next year.

Either one of Hutton/Karlsson should return in mentor role with Simpson assuming other spot in net and Carruth getting a year in the E

Whether it's Hutton, Karlsson, or someone else, this is exactly what should happen. Let Simpson be the backup, get 20-25 starts (unless his play warrants more) and let Carruth be the man in the ECHL, as Simpson was this season.

They won't go into the season with Simpson and Carruth only... that's for sure
