Good game and it's awesome to win the division. Man Edmonton sucks though. Aside from Hall (who I'd take over Etem and Palmieri btw) and Smid they're pretty much an AHL team.

I really don`t think we deserve higher at the moment. Yes, we clinched 2nd seed, but that is thanks to that stretch where we were constantly #1 and #2 in those rankings.

Montreal has a worse recent record and worse overall record and are 7th.

But did you saw their fanbase?

Ok, well, they are clearly too high, compared with us, but 13th place for us seems ok. Again, other teams are getting something else than us. NHL 14 cover situation anyone?

Hey guys, just wanted to say congrats on winning the division. Also thought it was amusing how on night one you eliminated the Oilers (Schultz), and on night two you defeat the Oilers (Schultz) to win your division. Karma at its finest.

Well there will be some studs going for the calder next year, some young guys already drafted making their debutes + a good portion of the top 10 in next years draft may be in the nhl.

If vatanen stays with the big club i can see him having some pretty nice numbers playing on the first PP unit with Getz Perry Fowler Bonino, that unit has looked amazing every time they've been out together. Fowler roaming around the offensive zone, with getz patients and puck control, boninos puck retrieval and ability to just be in the right spots at all times, and perrys front net/board presence is great, now add vatanens ability to shoot. He seems(so far) to always jump in at right right time for lose pucks and does a good job of getting in the way of the clears. Im very excited about vatanen... maybe eenok was right

LOL @ Comparing any of our young guys to Hall... Hall is an absolute beast..just look at his point totals for his age this season and who he plays with and the argument is over. Can't believe anyone would argue otherwise.

On the subject of Vatanen he has looked awesome at times the past couple of games and I think he's going to be a top tier offensive Dman in years to come, but at times he worried me the past couple of games, it just looks like he panics with the puck at moments and is gripping his stick a bit tightly. It seems every game a little less but I think he has a long ways to go in getting to the point where we really see Vatanens true style, and that is understandable, I also think Bruce is the guy to bring that out and make him feel at home so I'm excited.

Can/will he play for us in the playoffs? Not 100% sure how I feel about that.

Why not? Especially if PP struggles, he could get a game or two

Watching this game on my DVR I can't help but think the Oilers are tanking at this point. I know we out hustled and hit them but some of these reads by their defenseman were SO bad that I'm having trouble believing them. It's not like they were undressed by our forwards, it's the fact that they just didn't pick up guys stationed in front of the net. Several instances of this. Either way it is pretty pathetic.

PS Shultz looks like a Whitney 2.0.

Tin foil hat time, but I wonder if one factor of Souray missing these two games has to do with not wanting to be booed? He had some not nice comments about that organization. Probably unlikely, but something that could have had some influence.

Considering how the Oilers have been performing and how the fans are booing their own team they might see Souray as somewhat of a "tell it like it is" good guy who escaped.

If I recall, Souray only bad mouthed management, never the team. The Oilers tried to paint him as a locker room cancer which has never been supported anywhere he has been.

Everyone seems to be scratched these days with the ole vague "lower body injury". Except last time Souray was scratched for "age". I think typical maintenance/slightly dinged up is all.

Well his comments were not toward players, but they were against like coaching, GM, doctors. So that's pretty much the entire organization.

It is true though about how the team is performing now. But there may also be resentment about the whole playing in the minors for 5 million thing.

Not to pick nits but I would kind of lump anybody who isn't a player into "management". Perhaps in hindsight he might have regretted saying some things. But in general I think the fans are just as disgusted with "management" as he was, although for different reasons. I think he might have actually gotten cheered in EDM.

Well, he played there twice last year, so unless it really got to him then or something, I really doubt it.
