Asking CAR to go 1-2 or 0-1-2 vs NYI-NYR-PIT will be tough.

Having TBL go 1-1-1 vs TOR-BOS-FLA seems doable as well.

It would take a miracle from god for COL to go 2-1-0 vs STL-PHX-MIN though, haha.
I'd love to draft 4th overall but I don't want to get greedy and fall outside the top 8.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHLlottery.html

At this point, a site like this gets pretty accurate.

So highest likely spot is 5th at 26 percent

That's the 6th spot for the Oilers at 26%.

Carolina wins! Carolina wins!

Riley Nash scores in the shootout on his first NHL shootout attempt.

Oilers now 5th last, one place closer to getting Barkov.

If we can get a NSH win tonight + an OTL, we'll be in 4th.

TBL going 1-1-1 would be icing on the cake - 3rd! Drouin!

That's assuming the Oilers lose out which I find unlikely given that Chicago and Vancouver have basically nothing to play for.

I'm more excited that Buffalo and Philly are winning and that the Devils won as that makes a top 7 pick look pretty likely.

Pretty solid night for the draft standings tonight. Not much else could have gone right so far.

I'm glad Carolina and Nashville win tonight but there's no doubt in my mind the Oilers will pound Chicago tomorrow. We own those guys.

Chicago just got beat by their bitter enemies the Nucks. They aren't going to be in a particularly great mood imo. That's a very tough game for the Oilers to win.

He's one of those "top 8" blue-chip prospects in this draft that people are getting excited about, so there's definitely something there.

He's trending a bit behind Pietrangelo/Hamilton did in their pre-draft OHL years, and he's had the luxury of playing with a sublime partner in Ryan Sproul.

Although I made the reference earlier to him being similar to guys like Pietrangelo/Hamilton/OEL in pre-draft immaturity, he's definitely not at the same level as these players offensively.

I retract my earlier statement about his "big-time" potential - I don't think he possesses the hockey sense or offensive skills to be that kind of player. But his gritty style and big-body presence could still be a difference-making asset - anyone have an NHL comp for him? I'm having a hard time coming up with one.
Bogosian which I said earlier wasn't bad, but Bouwmeester with an edge is what I might say - and that is a great player. Nurse's skating really is terrific. Top pairing potential with this guy, could be quite special.

We are not saying that we don't need dmen but dmen take a while to develop. I would rathter trade for a dman that has been developed for a few years already. Nuse and Pulock will need min 3 yrs until they are ready to really contribute and we can't wait that long for dmen. Where as top fwds are normally contributed after one year.

What is the tie breaker. If we lose tomorrow and CAR and EDM both have 41 points, is it wins or regulation wins.

Tiebreaker is regulation + overtime wins. Canes have 18, Oilers have 15.

So if the draft was today Edmonton would be picking 5th overall. Nashville, Edmonton, Carolina tied at 41 points but Nashville has less wins + ROW than Edmonton or Carolina while Edmonton has less wins and ROW than Carolina.

Still have my eyes on Sean Monahan at 5th unless someone falls out (Mack, Jones, Drouin, Barkov)

I get that, but we need some depth at defense. I honestly think it was a mistake taking Yakupov over Murray (just my opinion) because edmonton had enough skilled forwards.

And also, what can we trade for a young dman now? Besides Klefbom we dont have a lot of top end prospects, especially if we use our pick on Sean Monohan with the idea that hes in the lineup right away.

Trade the pick for a young, developed, top 4 dman. Im sorry but we have enough forwards for one dynasty. Sign Ganger, buyout Horcoff and focus on building up the blueline and adding a goalie. I'm still not totally convinced Dubnyk can carry a team.

Tanking? They are a terrible team, period. This is the best we can expect from them.
