Right because players would never say anything like that, only misguided fans that think professional sports are a very large fantasy league ..

Happy to see Miller have a good performance in what is potentially his last game for Buffalo.

Vanek and Cody looked good.

Sorry, my bust. I thought this was his 500th. Agree, he should get to hit 500 in Buffalo.

They play like crap against the "bad" teams for the same reason that the "good" teams play like crap against them: It's called "playing down to your competition.

Happens all the time.

Consistency?

They NEVER beat Pittsburgh when it matters. Seriously.

If Miller was seeing a sports psychologist, I guarantee they'd do 25 sessions on just the Penguins.

And it's ****ing maddening. If we can hang with the best teams we should be able to beat the worst teams.

Sadly, they'll be facing the Islanders in that game....and the Isles WILL need the points.

Just a frustrating team. They play amazing hockey after they get eliminated.

Well, not really. They can hang with the best teams in the same way that the worst teams can hang with them. It's a matter of how seriously you take your competition.

The top teams likely looked at the Sabres as an easy win---just as the Sabres looked at the bottomfeeders that beat them. Of course the Sabres have been one of the consistently bottomfeeding teams most of the season and have only come out of it at the end, as ususal, to screw up their draft pick. Again.

A lot of that is Crosby. I seriously wonder if Crosby averages more points against Buffalo then any other team in the NHL. Always seems to be good for a goal and 1/2 assists per game.

Keep the personal crap out of your posts folks. Generalizing insults is still considered flaming.

Quote:
1) Flaming: Do not post any messages that harass, insult (name calling), belittle, threaten or mock other members. Debates are fine, but critique the opinion, not the person. Personal attacks are not permitted. Do not call other posters trolls. Do not use sweeping generalizations and plural pronouns to cloak personal attacks. For example if a poster(s) states that he thinks 'x' is a good idea, replying that "Anyone who supports 'x' is an idiot" is a personal attack. Do not start threads to call out and embarrass other members; or make posts about ignore lists.
If you can't separate the post point from the poster, there will be ramifications.

good- they beat the best team in the east, Vanek continues his 20 goal season streak, Grigorenko played decent minutes

-Panthers beat the Rangers (yes I am anti-Ranger)

bad- too late for the win to matter (maybe it will help build future team chemistry tho)

-Dustin Brown dirty elbow to Pomers

ugly- maybe I am just paranoid, but sure did look like the refs were awfully kind to the Penguins.

The Good -

- Some of these guys have figured out how to beat two long-standing nemeses in Pittsburgh and Boston. Now to get them to string that level of play between those games.
- Vanek looked much more like himself last night. Great to see him extend his 20-goal season streak.
- Pysyk's foray deep into the slot resulting in Ott's GWG.
- Getting the call on the GWG. Must've been banking up all those missed calls from earlier in the game, like some sort of officiating karma.
- Miller exorcism of old demons in Pittsburgh. That was the sort of goaltending they need to have a chance to win most nights.
- Pardy saving a goal.

The Bad -

- Didn't care for the officiating. It was clearly a have vs. a have not in terms of penalties. And the Sabres played the part of the have nots to a tee.

The Ugly -

- Holy shot differential. Good thing the Sabres D-men went to work with the shot blocking....

I for one, am part of the "T" (rhymes with plank) crowd. But I was pleased to see these guys keep playing hard and come out on top vs a team (though missing Crosby) that has more and better talent at all the positions besides goaltending.

I knew the only way we would be a getting a top 3 pick, is if we win the draft lottery. So with that said I just wanted to see what the kids have in them and have been fairly impressed.

I have to give it to Ott and the vets as they have shown the kids if you have nothing but pride to play for you, go out and defend your pride.

With all this said, this team still needs someone to bring better talent here, and I don't think they have that person to do that yet.

Also forgot Webs big hit in the third -- love seeing him step up on someone in open ice rather than simply finishing along the wall. Anything that gives the opposition a thought coming over the blueline about getting filled in is a good thing in my book.

There was a play in the 3rd where the Sqbres turned it over in their own zone behind Miller. Psysk won the battle for the puck in the midst of a couple Penguins and skated the puck out from behind the goal line.

Not to be too dramatic but I think it was one of the best plays a Sabres defensemen made this season.

His emergence has been by far the brightest spot on this team late in the season, if not all season. They nailed it with that draft pick. He's going to have an excellent career.

Was that the one on Glass? If so, Stiggy and Errey made a big deal that Weber took the worst of that hit. I hate those guys.

Yeah, it was Glass. Weber's not the most graceful skater -- he did go down after the hit. That someone actually hit an opponent in the neutral zone was surprisingly unexpected. I personally love to see the D step up to make those sort of hits -- yes, sometimes it will burn a guy, but it does give many players pause when attacking the blueline if they think there is a chance they will get popped. It's the aspect McNabb brings that alters the dynamic, even if he is limited in his mobility.

On a positive note, they're tied with Winnipeg for first in games played!

How about Hecht standing someone up at the blueline? Still don't think that was Hecht.
