It's still a dick move to call someone out on a poll you posted. It's a reason there are polls, so you can vote without having to "back it up".

I second this..

I love Zucc... I genuinely believe he will explode St. Louis style if he gets the line-mates.

But to single out those who carry a different opinion in a poll is wrong on many levels

As he's been one of our consistently best forwards, I don't see why he shouldn't be re-signed. Things happen when he's on the ice, which is alot more than you can say about many of our other forwards on the roster.

Maybe it's uncalled for to single a poster out for a vote, but DAMN that's a lopsided poll.

Some of the users in here has never played The game. They often have the strongest wiew on players/coaches. Anyone with little hockey sense see how valuable Mats is. PS: users in here love Richie when he put up points, hate him and even talks about selling/trading when he have a dip.. Im just amazed by that fact..

I'm fine with pointing out that the poll is loopsided, but I agree it's not cool to challenge people on their answer. You will always have people who disagrees with you, and you can't force them to share your opinion. If they themself points out their own vote, then I see it as fair game.

You can't deny hat we have been a much better hockey team since Zucc came on boards. I don't credit it all to him. Sending Gabby to Colombus and getting those pieces back and Clowe have also helped big time. And theres also no denying that Richards have looked much much better with Zucc as a linemate.

And anytime you have a player of his size not backing down from players like Phanuf and Parros, you know you have someone with the right attitude to play in this system. Cause like it or not, as long as Torts is out coach, we will play in this system.

I think it's disingenuous to call him out over one missed opportunity where he should have shot instead of passed. How many other players have done the same thing? How many other very good plays did he make last night.

If Richards doesn't take that stupid penalty, maybe we win. If Callahan had shot right away when Markstrom was down on the ice, maybe we win. There's lots of other plays you can look at. Bottom line is the team didn't get it done.

Zucc was our best player last night. Rather than give him credit for it, you'd rather see that as an indictment of the rest of the team. Again, that's disingenuous.

Do you honestly believe that we can't win with him on the team? Do you honestly believe that he isn't worth 1 mil a year? What more does Zucc need to do to merit a spot on the team in your opinion?

If NYR doesn't re-sign Zucca, I'm sure some other organization will try to sign him.

100% needs to be re-signed. The guy can slot in anywhere in the top-9 and add a boost of creativity. He is hitting, winning puck battles and putting up points. If he is willing to stay, he needs to be re-signed.

With his improved skating, he can be an impact player in the NHL. I'd hate to let him go and have him turn into a star somewhere else.

Sure, it doesn't look good on a team, but the argument that a player should be cut because he is better than the other players is just hard to understand.

Zucc is what he is. I would like to see him in a perfect environment for him, something we don't have. He is a midget 1-way offensive player who always are forced to cover for other more flawed players. I think he would blow many away in a situation like that.

But that's life. And Zucc isnt individually capable of dominating a NHL game.

In the end, when I see the product Torts put on the ice, I certainly have an extremely hard time seinfeld why Zucc shouldn't play. Atleast he can pass the puck, and when everything is said and done the passes made by this team were often made by him.
You had me until ....Seinfeld?

I agree with all you've said here.

Funny, when someone responds to me w/o resorting to 'glad your not our GM', it makes it so much easier to have a rational conversation.

Some? This is obviously directed towards the one guy who said no to resigning Zucc.

I don't like to bring up my hockey background, it is extensive. Some of the posters I've been talking to here or the old rivals boards for 15 years, some know and I only offer it up if someone asks me.

Gag, that one example, was his most recent highlight in my mind. Maybe that's why once I shut off the game everyone was clamoring over him I was a little peeved.

I don't honestly believe he isn't worth 1 mil a year, I just hope that he's game enough to take such a low amount for one or two seasons. Maybe thats what he wants, that would be great.

I believe the problem with him is you have a player who should be a specialist that is playing regular minutes. Zucc can be very effective, but is the type of guy who requires specific linemates and setup to do so. Add in the constant line juggling, where players have to have enough flexibility to be able to play with different linemates on a regular basis, and you do have a bit of a problem.

No doubt he can walk in and give the Rangers a dozen or more great games. Maybe even a few nice points in the playoffs. I'm just not all that sure just how effective he'd be in the Rangers system in a full 82 game season.

I don't think, with his mobility the way it is now, that he should be considered a specialist at best.

I've never seen a player go from so slow to above average speed in just one season. Makes you wonder if he is on an adrenaline rush.

And if not, makes you wonder how much more progression he can make with another off-season.

OMG?!

In all seriousness BN, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to bring him back for at least another year. If he doesn't play well, they can trade him. I am sure there are teams who would like to see him on their team.

He has provided a nice spark to whatever line he is on and he seems to have almost instant chemistry with most players.

Zuccarello was the best Ranger on the ice last night.

...for a team that lost to the worst team in the conference.

Good for Zuccarello, but its a serious problem when he is your best player.

Nice player, I've never said otherwise, my problem would be that he'd be on this team being placed into a role that doesn't fit, like most on this team. The depth of the organization continues to be a problem 13 years later. Zucc will play his arse off and for what, more of what we see lately with this team. Win 6-1 or lose 3-2. There is no middle ground with this squad.

Signing Zucc for little money in the short term I guess I'm with everyone else saying thats fine, but thats if its for a low cap hit and 1 or 2 years. I'm not so sure this team can give a player low money on a 1 or 2 year deal, its foreign to them.

And he still needs to prove himself in this league over a full season.

And since we won't have 4 of our top 6 picks from the next two drafts I guess this is also part of the trade off, signing a Euro FA, only costs money I'm told

If he continues to work out/Train in the summer like crazy and has a good training camp where he can "find" a line and build chemestry, then I can see why he can't be a success..

Want him to work on his shot over the summer. Or work on using his shot (which is pretty good) rather.
He needs to be indoctrinated into a more NA frame of mind.
Shoot more often when the opportunity is there

That's my problem as well. 'Maybe' is definitely in order.

And my no would still be no no matter what the choices. Why? Cause this poll popped up just as he was deemed the best player on the ice. Timing creates a huge bias, but what does timing have to do with anything in life, right?

Zooks will be even better after he has wrist surgery. In regards to the poster that brought up Seinfeld I see Zooks as good as Jerry and Kramer even though some people treat him like Newman.
